The Time New York, part of JdV by Hyatt
I'll be honest – when I first walked into The Time New York, part of JdV by Hyatt, I wasn't sure what to expect from the name alone.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Time New York, part of JdV by Hyatt, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But this four-star spot on West 49th turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you want to keep quiet about it so it doesn’t get too crowded.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know New York well. You’re right in the thick of Times Square energy – I mean, literally a two-minute walk to all that chaos – but the hotel itself sits on a block that somehow feels removed from the madness. It’s like having a backstage pass to the city without the constant sensory overload. The building has this sleek, contemporary vibe that feels distinctly New York without trying too hard to be trendy. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to soundproof the rooms effectively; you know you’re in Midtown, but you’re not hearing every taxi honk and street performer at 2 AM.
The rooms themselves have this clean, modern aesthetic – lots of whites and grays with pops of color that don’t feel forced. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s actually enough space to open your suitcase without doing yoga poses around the furniture. The bathrooms are well-designed too, with decent water pressure and toiletries that don’t smell like generic hotel soap. I particularly liked the floor-to-ceiling windows in my room; during the day you get great natural light, and at night the city views are pretty spectacular. The staff has been consistently helpful without being overly chatty – they seem to get that New York pace where efficiency matters but friendliness still counts.
What really sets this place apart, though, is how it strikes that balance between accessibility and tranquility. You can walk to basically everything – Broadway theaters, shopping, decent restaurants that aren’t total tourist traps – but when you come back, you’re stepping into a space that feels like a retreat. The lobby area has this calm, almost zen-like quality that’s genuinely relaxing after a day of navigating the city’s intensity. I’ve stayed here during both busy summer months and quieter winter periods, and the experience has been consistently solid. The elevators are fast (crucial when you’re on higher floors), check-in is typically smooth, and they seem to have figured out that little details matter – like having outlets where you actually need them and blackout curtains that work properly. It’s not the flashiest hotel you’ll find in the area, but honestly, that’s part of its appeal. Sometimes you just want a really well-executed place to stay without all the bells and whistles, and this delivers on that promise.

Wonderful
The location was perfect for us, near to the theatres and most things that we wanted to see were within walking distance. The room was comfy and clean.
What could be improved: It would have been nice if the mini bar had been refilled during our week's stay and if there were tea and coffee making facilities.
Great night sleep, relaxing and comfortable. Lovely start to our NYC break
The room was clean and comfortable and the location was great!
What could be improved: Snacks in the room were placed on the refrigerator which made them hot and melted!
Great place to stay, comfy
The room was very clean, good A/C, the location its perfect. We like it very much
Location is the best! Walking distance from everything
Location, location, location!
Staff were courteous and friendly.
What could be improved: AC was loud and room was very tight for two but doable for a very short stay.
Construction taking place.
Great place great vibes.everything is accessibl
Centrally located to Times Square just around the corner. Great place.
What could be improved: Rooms are incredibly small. I believe this is common in Tokyo though.
Very Good
Emilio on front desk was exceptional really made our stay!
Highly recommend. Unbeatable location near Times Square and spacious rooms suitable for families.
Fantastic location, generous sized room for NYC, renovated with plenty of storage space. Clean and functional bathroom with plenty of towels replaced daily. Daily wine and cheese was a lovely bonus. The room's air conditioning in the heat of summer worked very well. The Food Emporium across the road makes it easy to feed the family. The gym is usable (although hot) and complimentary passes at the nearby TMPL Gym with a lap pool is fantastic. Highly recommend.
What could be improved: Noisy construction works next door including jack hammering that started at 11pm until 3am for a couple of nights - bring earplugs.
Incredible! We cannot wait to come back
The location, service and everything was super up to par and worth every penny.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the wifi was pretty horrible in our room however that was completely minor and did not affect our stay at all.
Cozy, cute, comfortable, and conveniently located.
Cute, cozy, comfortable, and conveniently located
What could be improved: Room was really small, but cozy
Great location.great sleep great room
Vicinity to all the different theaters and time square. Just outside the noise but not far away from everything. Pillows were amazing. Room is perfect size. Tv is in the big round mirror which was a great design. Great water pressure and instant hot water.
What could be improved: Reported A/c issues. It sounded like it was going to blow up ….all night long. I reported it but when I left it still had not been taken care off. The elevators are slow!!
