I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Time New York, part of JdV by Hyatt, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But this four-star spot on West 49th turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you want to keep quiet about it so it doesn’t get too crowded.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know New York well. You’re right in the thick of Times Square energy – I mean, literally a two-minute walk to all that chaos – but the hotel itself sits on a block that somehow feels removed from the madness. It’s like having a backstage pass to the city without the constant sensory overload. The building has this sleek, contemporary vibe that feels distinctly New York without trying too hard to be trendy. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to soundproof the rooms effectively; you know you’re in Midtown, but you’re not hearing every taxi honk and street performer at 2 AM.

The rooms themselves have this clean, modern aesthetic – lots of whites and grays with pops of color that don’t feel forced. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s actually enough space to open your suitcase without doing yoga poses around the furniture. The bathrooms are well-designed too, with decent water pressure and toiletries that don’t smell like generic hotel soap. I particularly liked the floor-to-ceiling windows in my room; during the day you get great natural light, and at night the city views are pretty spectacular.
