I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York by IHG on Ludlow Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The Lower East Side has this gritty authenticity that some hotels try way too hard to capture, but this four-star spot actually gets it right. You know what struck me first? The lobby doesn’t feel like it’s trying to convince you it belongs in the neighborhood – it just does.
The thing about staying here is that you’re literally in the heart of everything that makes this part of New York special, but without sacrificing comfort. I mean, you can stumble out the front door and hit up Russ & Daughters for bagels, then wander over to the Tenement Museum, all before most tourists have even figured out the subway. The rooms themselves have this cool industrial-meets-artsy vibe – exposed brick in some of the suites, local artwork that actually means something rather than generic hotel art, and honestly, the beds are pretty fantastic. What I really appreciated was the attention to sound insulation because, let’s face it, this neighborhood can get lively at night (especially on weekends when the bars on Rivington get going).
The staff here actually knows the area – I asked the front desk about good late-night eats and got pointed toward Clinton St. Baking Company for brunch and some hole-in-the-wall ramen spot that I never would have found otherwise. The rooftop situation is decent too, though it gets packed during summer evenings, so timing matters if you want to actually enjoy it. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator situation during busy check-in times, but that’s pretty typical for older buildings in this part of town. What really sold me on this place, though, was stepping out at 7 AM for coffee and watching the neighborhood wake up – street vendors setting up, locals heading to work, that authentic New York energy that you just can’t manufacture. If you’re the type who wants to experience the city rather than just visit it, this spot puts you right where you need to be.

Boutique hotel in the lower east side.
We’ve stayed here before, we like it just fine.
What could be improved: The restaurant on the 15th floor has a nightclub that plays extremely loud thumping music until about two and sometimes three in the morning. It vibrates all the way down to the 11th floor and maybe below that.

Near to our daughter and fabulous views of the city!
What could be improved: No buffet breakfast
Overall enjoyed the hotel. Will just recommend to stay on a lower floor to hopefully avoid so much noise at night

What could be improved: My room was on the 10th floor and there is a rooftop club on the 15th. A lot of noise until 2am! Not people but the music was very loud making it difficult to fall asleep.
Good hotel overall, just be careful with room bookings

What could be improved: The server at the rooftop bar was so nonchalant and we kept having to go to the bar to get drinks because she never even walked by us
The bed was incredibly firm. We woke up in pain most days
The “city view” with the balcony was on the third floor and just looked up at the building next door and was NOT worth the cost
Short NYE visit
The hotel was very nice and in a prime spot for exploring Chinatown. Found out after I booked that there was a night club in the hotel on floor 15. Emailed and asked for a quiet room and they accommodated us with no problem. Staff was very nice as well. Some of the rooms look down into others balconies so that was a bit of a disappointment but really it was not a huge deal for us. Overall it was a pleasant stay and I'd consider staying here again for my next trip.

The hotel was clean. Beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating during our time there.
What could be improved: The pool was closed during the afternoon hours to hotel guests. You could only have access for a fee. Apparently, it is not the hotels pool and belongs to the restaurant that is in the Hotel Indigo. I did not see that information when I was booking.
