First Impressions
Walking into The Sherry Netherland feels like stepping into old New York royalty — and I mean that in the best possible way. This five-star hotel sits right on Fifth Avenue across from Central Park, and honestly, the location alone is worth writing home about. The lobby has this timeless elegance that doesn’t feel stuffy or overdone, just genuinely sophisticated in a way that makes you want to linger a bit longer than necessary.
The Prime Location
You know what’s incredible about staying here? You’re literally across the street from Central Park — I’m talking about a view that most New Yorkers would sell their souls for. The hotel scored a 9.9 for location, which frankly doesn’t surprise me at all. You can walk to the Metropolitan Museum in about ten minutes, and all those fancy Fifth Avenue shops are right at your doorstep. Couples especially seem to love this spot (they rated it 9.8), and I get it — there’s something pretty romantic about having Central Park as your backyard in Manhattan.
Luxury Accommodations
The room I stayed in was spacious by New York standards, which actually means something when you’re used to shoebox-sized hotel rooms in the city. What really stood out were the beds — seriously comfortable, and apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so since the hotel gets consistently high marks for sleep quality. The furnishings have this classic luxury feel without being overly ornate, and many rooms come with those coveted park views that make you want to just sit by the window with your morning coffee. The attention to detail throughout each space reflects the hotel’s commitment to refined comfort.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant serves solid cuisine, though honestly, with this location you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to dining options nearby. What I really appreciated was the attentive service throughout the property — staff members who actually seem to know what they’re doing and care about your experience. There’s parking available on-site too, which is practically a miracle in this part of Manhattan (though you’ll pay for the privilege, as expected). The concierge team goes above and beyond to assist with reservations and recommendations.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the newest or flashiest hotel in the city, but that’s actually part of its charm. The Sherry Netherland has this established luxury that feels authentic rather than trying too hard. You’re paying for one of the best locations in New York, genuinely comfortable accommodations, and that old-school luxury service that’s becoming harder to find. If you want to wake up to Central Park views and be in the heart of everything that makes Manhattan special, this place delivers exactly what it promises. The timeless appeal and consistent excellence make it a standout choice for discerning travelers.

Amazing
Amazing location, right on the door step of central park. Beautiful old style with charm.
Strongly recommended, I have no doubt to reserve again!
This is an Oh my God place!!! Excellent staff service and attendance, beautiful decorations, very clean, utilities were always available, location is awesome. The best of the best!
What could be improved: Nothing was wrong.
Great stay in the heart of Manhattan
Great location right at the corner of Central Park and Fith Avenue! The hotel team is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We felt like being at home and had a great time at The Sherry Netherland. Perfectly!
What could be improved: Nothing.
Old style NY hotel but what a location
Everything - the room was excellent, the staff brilliant, location could not be better for what we wanted. Having such an excellent venue for breakfast/drinks/food next door was also great. All this and such a comfortable bed, and lots of amenities in the room. Please note its Art Deco or thereabouts, so some may call it old style - we arrived on the Queen Mary 2 so it fitted in with the style perfectly.
What could be improved: It is pricy but then you have to look at location and history - if its good enough for David Bowie ... !! Other than that and a problem with the safe it was a great stay.
Exceptional
Everything is excellent
As good as it gets
Tasteful modernisation of an older property. Staff could not have been more helpful. Perfectly located. Not cheap, but a real treat. Stayed in some great hotels and this was as good as the best.
What could be improved: Nothing
Just the prefect place to stay for a week in New York. We will return!
The location on 5th Av and 59th Street (Midtown, south east corner of Central Park) is just the best.
The staff were exceptional and the room (1615) beautifully designed and quiet. We stayed 6 nights.
The bed was really comfortable with quality linen and pillows.
We also liked the Cipriani restaurant next door, which can be accessed through a door in the hotel lobby. We had breakfasts there and a lunch. Hotel guests get a 20% discount. It's a popular venue, so lunch/dinner reservations are recommended.
What could be improved: Nothing - and I don't often say that!
A lovely hotel four a weekend in NY.
Beautiful old style hotel. Rooms large and comfortable.
What could be improved: Bathroom tiny. Very little counter space. Plug for hair dryer not working.
