Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Evelyn NoMad, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a hotel tucked away on East 27th Street. But this five-star spot completely changed my mind about what boutique luxury can be in New York. The lobby hits you with this warm, residential feeling that’s nothing like those sterile midtown towers, and you know what? That’s exactly the point.
The NoMad neighborhood itself is having this incredible moment – I mean, you’re basically between the energy of Chelsea and the classic Manhattan grid, with Madison Square Park just a few blocks south. What I love about staying here is that you can walk to the Flatiron Building in about eight minutes, but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of Times Square. The hotel sits on this quieter stretch where you actually hear birds in the morning instead of just honking cabs, which honestly surprised me. The rooms feel more like a sophisticated friend’s apartment than a typical hotel setup – the design team clearly spent time thinking about how people actually use space when they’re traveling. I particularly noticed the lighting (dimmable everything, thank god) and the fact that there are enough outlets near the bed without having to unplug the alarm clock.
What really sets The Evelyn apart is how it handles the small stuff that most places overlook. The staff actually remembers your name after one interaction, the elevators are fast enough that you don’t stand there checking your phone, and – this might sound weird – but the hallways are quiet. Like, genuinely quiet, which is rare in Manhattan hotels. The restaurant scene in NoMad has exploded lately, and you’re walking distance from some seriously good spots that locals frequent, not just the tourist traps. I found myself using the hotel as a base to explore this whole area that I’d somehow missed despite living in the city for years. Sure, it’s pricier than your average stay, but there’s something to be said for a place that feels like a proper retreat in the middle of all the urban intensity. If you’re someone who appreciates thoughtful details over flashy amenities, this is your spot.

Noise from road v bad even on third floor
Plus noise from other rooms be close by in corridor nook
Lighting not brilliant
Would stay again.
Well appointed room if a little dark with its internal outlook.
What could be improved: Shower was poor. No complimentary bottled water in room.

Great place, pleasant staff!
Great locartion close to Madison Square Park which is stunning. Also close to subway stations and lots
A beautiful hotel in am excellent location. I loved the light breakfast every morning but they can improve the coffee offer.
What could be improved: We had to move rooms due to loud noise coming from next door building which wakes you very early in the morning. Hopefully it can be resolved. Hotel did a aplogise with a nice gesture of wine and macaroons. The reception area is a bit dark in day time.
Small room in center of Manhattan.
Clean room in the center of Manhattan
What could be improved: Very small room, breakfast is a joke (you can choose one drink like tea or coffee or juice) plus one item like croissant or cheese and egg sandwich. So for American and any standards its not real breakfast. View was to brick wall (somehow expected it but was on 9th floor).
The hotel is cute, has a great vibe (fun bar), it’s clean and staff is very attentive.
The staff was super helpful and very pleasant to interact with. The room was clean.
What could be improved: The room was on a smaller side and facing a street, which for us, light sleepers, was not ideal. The mattress was OK (7/10), but not the best for my bad back.
Keayanie- at front desk- was also amazing.Shewas very helpful when we had flight delay issues. She also was very knowled
