First Impressions
Walking into the New Yorker by Lotte Hotels feels like stepping into a piece of Manhattan history — and honestly, that’s exactly what you’re doing. This four-star property sits right on Eighth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, and you can feel the energy of New York buzzing around you the moment you arrive. The lobby has this classic New York vibe that doesn’t try too hard to be trendy, which I actually appreciate after staying in so many hotels that feel like they’re chasing the latest design fad.
The Heart of Hell’s Kitchen
You know what’s great about this location? You’re literally in the thick of everything without being stuck in the tourist chaos of Times Square. Hell’s Kitchen has become this incredible food destination — I mean, you’ve got authentic Thai places, cozy wine bars, and some of the best pizza joints all within a few blocks. The theater district is close enough that you can easily catch a Broadway show, but far enough that you won’t be fighting crowds of tourists every time you step outside. Couples seem to get this balance perfectly, which explains why they rate the location so highly for romantic getaways.
The Room Experience
The room itself strikes that sweet spot between comfortable and functional. Nothing feels cramped, which is honestly a minor miracle in Manhattan. The windows actually open (another small victory), and if you’re lucky enough to get a higher floor, you’ll catch some decent city views. The beds are solid — not the kind that leave you tossing and turning after a long day of walking around the city. What I really noticed was how quiet it stays at night, considering you’re on a busy avenue.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here gives you options without overwhelming you. They do both Continental and American styles, so whether you want something light before heading out to explore or need a proper meal to fuel a full day of sightseeing, you’re covered. The Continental spread is actually pretty decent — fresh pastries, good coffee, the usual suspects. If you go American, the eggs are cooked properly and the bacon isn’t that sad, chewy stuff you sometimes get at hotel breakfast buffets.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about this place — it gets the fundamentals right without any unnecessary fuss. You’re staying somewhere that feels authentically New York, not like some generic hotel that could be anywhere. The staff knows the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots. And that location score of 9.4? It’s earned. You can walk to Penn Station in minutes, catch the subway easily, or just wander around one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods. For the price point, you’re getting solid value in a city where hotel costs can spiral out of control pretty quickly.

Very Good
Check-in was easy and smooth. Room was standard for NYC. Could be a bit cleaner.
What could be improved: It could've been a bit cleaner. Definitely needs updating but not enough that it isn't worth the value of the stay.
Great location. Lovely restaraunts. Small and outdated room, felt a little shabby for the price.
Loved the iconic Art deco feel of the building. Hallways and room was a bit shabby and outdated.
What could be improved: We paid for a “room with a view” the view was pretty poor - we were led to believe it would be a view with the empire state or Maddison square gardens. It was in fact a view of some other hotel rooms and a partial outlook to some office blocks in the city.
Wonderful
Clean and functional. The TikToker was very good. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Very pleasant.
Really enjoyable
The location is central
What could be improved: How small the bathroom was
Very Good
Location and kind staff
Brilliant historic hotel with friendly staff.
Excellent friendly staff (especially Darlene) and location. Typical old fashioned (in a good way!) New York hotel with art deco style.
What could be improved: Hot water took a very very long time to come through the shower.
Wonderful
Iconic New York Landmark Hotel in excellent location.
Close Walking distance of Moynihan Train Hall is a big plus
What could be improved: Not a major concern - there is a lovely exhibition area in the basement that they should do more with. This hotel is very rich in history, and they are missing a trick here
Holiday at Hotel New Yorker
Easy to book in. Reception service was excellent.
Cleaning staff very flexible.
What could be improved: Nothing really .Our stay was trouble free .
Great value all round.
Stayed here before. Good location and front desk staff in particular were so helpful.
Good value for money.
Good
The location and large beds, Tick Tock Diner next door 24/7 great location.
What could be improved: Lots of street noise, traffic, sirens and arguments head but that's the NYC location of a front facing room even though we were 7 floors up, so be prepared .
The room door entrance was near our floor lift entrance /exit so lots of noise from late to the early hours. Including the ice machine and staff rattling room service trays back and forth. The bathroom was outdated and the shower was a jet wash.
