Hotel 48LEX New York
I'll be honest - when I first walked into Hotel 48LEX New York, I wasn't expecting much from what looked like just another Midtown tower.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Hotel 48LEX New York, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another Midtown tower. But you know what? This four-star spot on Lexington Avenue actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe that feels fresh without trying too hard, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests walk through the door (which, let’s face it, isn’t always a given in New York).
What really won me over was the location – I mean, you’re right in the heart of Midtown East, literally steps from Grand Central. I could walk to the Chrysler Building in about three minutes, and when I needed to grab lunch, there’s this amazing little deli on 51st that the concierge recommended (locals actually eat there, not just tourists). The rooms are smaller than what you’d get in other cities – this is Manhattan, after all – but they’re smartly designed with these floor-to-ceiling windows that make the space feel bigger. My room on the 12th floor had a partial view of the Empire State Building, which honestly made my morning coffee ritual pretty spectacular.
Here’s the thing about staying in this part of town: it can get noisy, especially during rush hour when the street fills with taxis and people heading to Grand Central. But the hotel’s windows do a decent job blocking most of it out, and by 9 PM things quiet down considerably. The fitness center is nothing fancy, but it’s clean and has the basics – I appreciated being able to get a quick workout in without feeling cramped. One small critique though: the elevator situation during peak times (around 8 AM and 6 PM) can be a bit of a wait since you’re sharing with business travelers who all seem to be rushing somewhere important. Still, for the price point and location, Hotel 48LEX delivers exactly what you’d want from a solid Midtown stay – you’re close to everything that matters, the rooms are comfortable enough to actually relax in after walking 15,000 steps around the city, and you don’t feel like you’re getting gouged just because there’s “New York” in the name. Perfect for both business trips and those long weekend escapes when you want to be in the thick of things.

Guest Reviews
2 nights in NYC to celebrate our anniversary, visit the Frick Museum plus a visit to the Doctor!
The hotel is in a great location with a very nice restaurant on the first floor.
What could be improved: I wish they had a coffee bar in the morning.
It was our first time in Manhattan and the staff made us feel welcomed.
It was in a convenient location to access Manhattan’s districts and Grand Central Station.
What could be improved: We had a $25 a day coupon for the restaurant at the hotel. However we found out that they offer a different price menu for customers that have this promotion then if you didn’t have the coupon.
A few days in Manhattan
We spent a few days here and will be returning. It's a very nice hotel in the eastern part of Midtown Manhattan. Clean, no bugs. We had two suites, one with a balcony overlooking the intersection of E. 48th St. and Lexington Ave. It's a perfect place for conversations on warm nights.
What could be improved: My only complaints are the poor lighting in the bedroom and the unclear policy of charging for bottled water in the room. This should be improved.
Great stay
Corner view, large windows. Completely Renovated. Separate living room with door Nice lounge
Good for family of 3.
Wonderful staff, great location, all our requests were fulfilled promptly. No issues with mattresses/sofas in our room, pretty quiet (10th flor).
The room description mentions a kitchen, however, it’s impossible to cock anything as only a microwave included. It’s unclear why there is a dishwasher—there are no dishes at all.
Very comfortable and friendly staff
Large rooms
