Studios in New York
Look, I'll be honest with you – when I first walked up to Studios in New York on West Street, I wasn't expecting much from what looks like a pretty straightforward building in NoMad.
Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first walked up to Studios in New York on West Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looks like a pretty straightforward building in NoMad. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming places surprise you the most. This three-star spot actually sits in one of my favorite pockets of Manhattan, right where the neighborhood gets interesting but hasn’t completely lost its soul to the tourists yet.
The thing about staying here is you’re genuinely in the thick of things without feeling like you’re drowning in Times Square chaos. I mean, you can walk to Madison Square Park in literally five minutes – and trust me, that little green space becomes your best friend when you need a breather from the city madness. The studios themselves are exactly what they sound like, compact but thoughtfully laid out. Nothing fancy, but honestly, when you’re paying New York hotel prices, you appreciate when a place gives you clean, functional space without trying to charge you resort fees for basic WiFi. The kitchenettes are small but actually usable (I managed to make decent coffee every morning), and the windows – well, some face other buildings, but that’s just New York life for you.
What I really liked was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about good dinner spots that weren’t tourist traps, the front desk guy pointed me toward this Vietnamese place on 28th Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The elevators are a bit slow, and you’ll definitely hear some street noise if you’re on the lower floors – West Street isn’t exactly a quiet residential lane. But there’s something oddly comforting about falling asleep to the distant hum of the city doing its thing. Plus, you’re close enough to the subway that getting around is easy, but far enough from the major tourist clusters that you can pretend you’re living like a real New Yorker for a few days. If you’re looking for a place that won’t blow your budget but puts you right in the middle of everything that makes this city worth visiting, this is honestly a solid choice.

Very Good
Studios in New York delivers on what was promised, great location, clean and tidy facilities, every thing you need packed into a small space at a great price.
Wonderful
Location is absolutely fantantastic & highly recommended. Instructions to find it which would be difficult without were a godsend & greatly appreciated.Would most happily stay again.
What could be improved: A little maintenance is required to fix shelves & door hangers, etc. (which are of a lightweight cheap variety) as previous guests have been a little disrespectful. That said, my trusty Swiss army knife came in handy!
Wonderful
It was very central, a few minutes walk from the subway and Macy's. Beds were comfortable and it was great to have a kettle and fridge. Very clean.
What could be improved: A small bit stuffy, but that was a minor thing. There was aircon
Great place to stay for a couple of days
It is in a great location.

Nice centric apartment
The location is amazing. It was really easy to move around Manhattan.
It was warm and cozy.
The owner was really nice and contacted us through our stay to advise or give us notices about the building
What could be improved: The blind of the window didn't work and some light came through the night. It was a bit hot.
The shower has mould.
Wonderful
The location was amazing. The room was small, as expected, but completely adequate for my three young nieces. They reported that all was clean and tidy, and that the shower was great.
Fantastic location and cleanliness!
Absolutely fantastic location! The apartment was very clean, quiet, and the perfect place to stay for a few busy days in the city when we wanted to get as much sightseeing done as possible. There is a Dunkin' Donuts one block over (3-5 min walk) for a quick morning coffee although the apartment has a coffee maker and supplies if you want to make your own breakfast/coffee. The main strip of Korea Town is one street over (also a 3-5 min walk) that has numerous restaurants and a grocery store. One of the main subway stations is about a block away as well-- we used it to access everything from Broadway, Times Square, Central Park, and the Battery for Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty tours. Definitely made a quick trip to New York affordable and far more efficient than staying farther away from everything.
