First Impressions
Walking into Royalton New York feels like stepping into a sleek urban sanctuary right in the middle of Manhattan’s chaos. The lobby has this sophisticated, almost gallery-like atmosphere that immediately tells you this four-star property takes design seriously. You’re literally in the heart of Times Square — 44th Street puts you within walking distance of basically everything you came to New York to see, but somehow the hotel manages to feel like a calm retreat from all that energy outside.
The Location Game-Changer
Honestly, the location here is pretty much unbeatable if you want to be in the thick of things. You’re a two-minute walk from Times Square, which I know sounds touristy, but it’s actually incredibly practical — all those subway lines converge right there, so you can get anywhere in the city without much fuss. Bryant Park is just around the corner (perfect for a morning coffee), and you’ve got the Theater District literally on your doorstep. What really surprised me is how couples seem to love this spot — apparently they rate the location a 9.4, and I get it. There’s something romantic about being able to walk to a Broadway show and then slip back to your hotel without dealing with crazy taxi rides.
The Room Experience
The room design leans modern and minimalist, which works well in a city where space is at a premium. Everything feels thoughtfully planned — the lighting is actually good (rare in hotels), and the beds are genuinely comfortable after long days of walking around the city. The bathrooms are sleek, though not huge, but honestly that’s pretty standard for Manhattan. What I appreciated most was how quiet it stays despite being in such a busy area. The soundproofing really does its job, which is crucial when you’re this close to Times Square.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant scene is solid without being flashy — you’ve got options that work whether you want a quick breakfast before heading out or a proper dinner when you’re too tired to venture back into the crowds. I mean, with this location, you’re not exactly hurting for dining choices within a few blocks, but it’s nice to have reliable options right in the building. They’ve also got parking available, which is honestly a small miracle in this part of Manhattan — if you’re driving into the city, that alone might make your decision for you.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is how it balances being right in the center of everything with actually giving you a comfortable place to recharge. You’re not paying for over-the-top amenities, but you’re getting solid comfort and that location that just can’t be beat. The staff seems to understand that most guests are here to explore the city, so they’re helpful without being pushy. It’s the kind of place where you can drop your bags, head out for the day, and know you’ll have a peaceful room to return to — even though you’re surrounded by one of the busiest neighborhoods on earth.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in New York at least three months ahead for major events like marathons and holiday celebrations, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular Manhattan attractions.

Good location
What could be improved: That the bar wasn't open. It is such a beautiful hotel, should be used to its full potential
Great location and comfortable room.reasonably priced for central NYC
Central location. Large room. Good aircon (albeit a bit noisy).
What could be improved: Seemed a bit odd not to have a bar open but ultimately we wanted a room to sleep in so not a massive problem. Would have liked better quality toiletries but that’s a small issue.
