Mint House at 70 Pine
So here's the thing about Mint House at 70 Pine – I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when I first heard the name, but this place completely caught me off guard in the best way possible.
So here’s the thing about Mint House at 70 Pine – I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when I first heard the name, but this place completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. You’re staying in what used to be the old Cities Service Building, this gorgeous Art Deco tower that’s been around since the 1930s, and they’ve turned it into these incredibly sleek extended-stay suites. The lobby still has that old New York grandeur with these soaring ceilings and marble details, but then you get upstairs and it’s like stepping into a modern apartment that someone with really good taste designed.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to make a four-star hotel feel less like a hotel and more like you’re borrowing a friend’s amazing downtown apartment. The suites come with full kitchens – and I mean actual kitchens with real appliances, not those sad mini-fridges most places give you. I was there for almost a week and actually cooked dinner a few times, which honestly saved me a fortune since you’re right in the Financial District where grabbing lunch can easily cost you thirty bucks. The windows are huge, and if you’re lucky enough to get a room facing the right direction, you’ll catch glimpses of the harbor between all those glass towers. There’s something pretty magical about making your morning coffee while looking out at the same streets where Wall Street traders are already rushing around at 7 AM.
Location-wise, you’re basically in the heart of everything that matters downtown. Stone Street’s literally around the corner – that’s where all the after-work crowd heads for drinks, and it gets pretty lively on Thursday and Friday nights. You can walk to the 9/11 Memorial in about five minutes, catch the subway at Wall Street station, or if you’re feeling ambitious, it’s a decent walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. The neighborhood does get pretty quiet on weekends since it’s so business-focused, which some people love and others find a bit dead – depends what you’re after, I suppose. One thing I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area well. When I asked about getting to Brooklyn for dinner one night, the guy at the front desk didn’t just give me generic directions but told me which subway car to get on to be closest to the exit at my destination. Those little details matter when you’re trying to navigate the city efficiently, you know?

Loved the record player in the room and the space of the room. Great location, heart of the financial district. Would stay again.

Room is spacious and inspiring. It was great to see that the room was cleaned every day, really inspiring to have some great vinyls that you can play with the seats close to the bedroom where really comfortable to read relax after a good day at work the kitchen is well equipped. The fridge is big enough to store everything that is really necessary or even the unnecessary. The oven and the microwaves are quite practical as well.
What could be improved: I was receiving most of my parcel really easily and the last night for a reason that I don't know and I don't understand I couldn't get two parcel out of three one was arrived at the same time. It was delivered properly to the reception, but that's the only downside I will just make sure in the future that my postal address mentioning mint House.
Well located and good quality
As described. Large appartment with good kitchen area, huge fridge/freezer. Washer/dryer. Helpful front desk staff. Whilst it is located quite far down Manhattan there is a nearby subway station so does not take too long to travel north. The hotel is well located, next to Wall Street and the boardwalk area. A local bus does not take long to get to Ellis Island/Liberty departure point. The supermarket at the bottom of the building is well-stocked, if a bit more expensive than K-Mart (which is not nearby). Housekeeping comes every day and tops up the good coffee from the downstairs coffee shop.
What could be improved: Whilst a large space, there was a shortage of drawers for clothes. The third bedroom was a sofabed in the sitting / dining room which was not very convenient but just about workable. Some areas of the appartment were a bit scuffed.

Everything was really great! A big modern room with all that you may need. The location is also really convenient
gorgeous spacious rooms, quiet location, felt safe and close to everything, perfect for a weeklong stay.
very spacious room with high ceilings in a lovely art deco building. the kitchen was well stocked and well appointed and seemed almost new. loved the pour over coffee set up. the bathroom was nice as were the soaps/ shampoo. other nice features we did not use - record player and bar set. liked that they came and cleaned, but would be fine every other day.
What could be improved: only very minor issues - hallways were bland and did not go with really lovely rooms, code in the elevator is a bit tricky at first, and bedsheets did not stay on well.
Great solution if looking for home-like comfort for longer stays
I was looking for something more than a hotel room - because my stay was a bit longer - and Mint House definitely delivered!
The kitchen has everything you might need to sustain yourself for a few days with complete meals (including various methods of preparing coffee and even a toaster!) The room is nice and spacious, the bed is super comfortable, and the water pressure in the shower is excellent.
Having the laundry facilities on the 6th floor and the gym in the basement made this spot a true haven. The gym is probably one of the best ones I've ever seen in this type of lodging.
