First Impressions
Walking into the Sheraton Tribeca New York Hotel, you immediately sense you’re in one of Manhattan’s most authentic neighborhoods. The lobby feels refreshingly understated for a four-star property — no overwhelming marble or gold accents, just clean lines and that particular New York energy that makes you feel like you’re part of the city rather than hiding from it. The staff actually knows the area well, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re trying to navigate Tribeca’s maze of cobblestone streets and converted warehouses.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot on Canal Street — you’re right at the intersection where Tribeca meets SoHo and Chinatown, which means incredible dining options in every direction. You can walk to some of the city’s best restaurants (I mean, this is Robert De Niro’s neighborhood for a reason), but you’re also just steps from authentic dim sum and those little Italian joints that locals have been hitting for decades. The subway access is actually solid too — you’ve got multiple lines within a few blocks, so getting uptown to Central Park or down to the Financial District is pretty straightforward.
The Rooms
The rooms strike that sweet spot between modern comfort and New York practicality. They’re not huge — this is Manhattan, after all — but the layout feels thoughtful, with enough space to actually unpack your suitcase and spread out a bit. The windows offer glimpses of the neighborhood’s industrial-chic architecture, and the beds are genuinely comfortable after long days of city walking. What I particularly appreciate is the work area setup; it’s clear they understand that many guests need to catch up on emails or plan their next day’s adventures.
Breakfast & Amenities
The breakfast situation here works well for different travel styles — there’s both continental and buffet options, so whether you’re the grab-and-go type or someone who likes to fuel up properly before exploring, you’re covered. The fitness center is compact but well-equipped, which matters when you’re staying multiple nights and want to balance out all that amazing New York eating. The business center and meeting spaces feel professional without being stuffy, and the 24-hour front desk staff genuinely seems to enjoy helping guests figure out the best routes to wherever they’re headed.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it captures that authentic Tribeca vibe while still delivering the reliability you expect from an upscale hotel. Couples especially seem to connect with the neighborhood’s romantic, village-like feel — those tree-lined streets and historic buildings create a completely different atmosphere from the tourist-heavy areas of Midtown. You’re staying somewhere that feels like real New York, where you might spot a celebrity grabbing coffee or stumble upon a film crew shooting on the cobblestones, but you’re not paying the premium prices of some of the flashier hotel districts. It’s that rare combination of location, comfort, and genuine New York character that keeps people coming back.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in New York at least three months ahead for major events like marathons and holiday celebrations, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular Manhattan attractions.

Great location. Clean. Comfortable bed. Lovely staff
Great location. Hotel is on Canal which is not beautiful, but Tribeca neighbourhood is immediately south and Soho neighbourhood is immediately north. Great shopping, food and workout options and lovely for a quiet walk. Close to the subway. Easy to get uptown - including Times Square if you are Broadway bound. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. The staff at the desk in the lobby approached us and got us a cab to the airport right away - that's been a challenge for us at much more expensive hotels in Soho. Comfortable bed. Great shower.
What could be improved: Small room. Corner with small window. Alarming when adjacent rooms opened their doors. Extra furniture (that wasn't necessary or even useful) in room made it feel cluttered and even smaller than it is. There is some kind of control on the air conditioning. Room was always warm when we came back after being out and about - it did cool once we were in it for a bit. A smart environmental and cost control choice, but would be good to know in advance because it was hot and humid weather when we were there and we were worried when we walked into our room.
Great location, good coffee bar, cost effective
Great location, relatively reasonable price
What could be improved: Nothing
Very Good
What could be improved: N/A
Great location, very clean and spacious rooms, highly recommended
Excellent location, very clean and spacious rooms, helpful staff.
I was travelling for work and I was given a quiet room as requested. The wi-fi was fast and stable, unlike many other hotels.
What could be improved: I didn't love the a la carte breakfast, I wish there were more options for a light breakfast and coffee early in the morning.
Super comfortable stay in great location!
Fabulous location right across from Soho, on major subway line. Super comfortable room and beds, large bathroom - everything you need!
What could be improved: It’s still on the more expensive side, but it’s NYC priced and was the cheapest nice place around.
It was great for what I needed, but I probably would not stay there again simply because he was hard to sleep with the d
The hotel is extremely clean. It was right next to Chinatown in Little Italy very convenient to catch the metro. The fitness center was also perfect.
What could be improved: The door slam so loud that it shakes the whole room. The air-conditioning is set to 68°, which is just a bit too warm.
Wonderful
Being on the club level and having access to the lounge 👌🏾. This made the hotel stay much better, especially being on the balcony area.
What could be improved: The only thing I would say is that overall the hotel seems to be designed for businessmen/women for a quick stay. The atmosphere and decor seem to follow that, which means the hotel design is a bit dated.
Pretty good
It was clean, the staff was friendly and the location.
What could be improved: There was a homeless man in the lobby. I felt bad for him. But at the same time I was scared.
Perfect location in Manhattan
Great location, room was very spacious for NYC. Staff went above and beyond.
What could be improved: Everything was great. We didn’t get breakfast so can’t speak to that.
Great downtown location, easy to get places with subway stops nearby.
Quiet room. Clean bathroom. Lounge area to work.
What could be improved: Difficult to connect to WiFi in the room.
