I'll be honest – when I first walked into citizenM New York Bowery, I wasn't sure what to expect from this sleek glass tower rising up from one of Manhattan's grittiest-turned-hippest neighborhoods.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into citizenM New York Bowery, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this sleek glass tower rising up from one of Manhattan’s grittiest-turned-hippest neighborhoods. But you know what? This place actually gets it right in ways that surprised me.
The location is brilliant if you want to feel plugged into real New York energy. You’re literally steps from some of the city’s best late-night eats (Clinton St. Baking Company is around the corner, and trust me, their blueberry pancakes are worth the weekend wait), plus you’ve got the whole Lower East Side spread out in front of you. I mean, you can walk to SoHo in ten minutes or catch a show at the Bowery Ballroom without even thinking about subway logistics. The four-star property sits right where the old Bowery’s punk rock history meets today’s boutique shopping scene – it’s this fascinating collision that somehow works.
What really won me over was how they’ve designed the whole experience around actual human behavior rather than hotel industry nonsense. The lobby doubles as this buzzing communal space where people actually want to hang out (rare in New York, honestly), and the self-check-in kiosks are intuitive enough that even my tech-phobic uncle could figure them out. The rooms are compact – we’re talking efficient rather than cramped – but every single detail feels intentional. Those XL beds are legitimately comfortable, and the rain showers have serious pressure. The floor-to-ceiling windows give you these unexpected views of the neighborhood’s mix of old tenements and new construction that somehow captures the whole Manhattan story in one frame. Sure, storage space is minimal, but if you’re doing New York right, you’re barely in your room anyway. The rooftop bar situation is solid too – not the biggest space, but the skyline views make up for it, especially if you time it right around sunset when the light hits the downtown buildings just so. I’ve stayed in plenty of places that cost twice as much and delivered half the personality.
Hotels near me in New York offer convenient access to iconic landmarks, where guests can easily walk to Empire State Building, Central Park, and world-renowned restaurants in diverse neighborhoods.

Very Good
Clean and comfy bed
What could be improved: Can get Slightly noisy at night as in a central location, solved with earplugs
The location is great. You’re right next to Chinatown and Little Italy. The subway is just a short walk.
I loved all the art, it was really fun. The views from the rooftop bar are beautiful. I also found the staff very friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Rooms were a little on the small size but not that bad for NYC. As a sold traveler it was fine.
Particular experience
We stayed only one night, excellent location to stay in a neighborhood frequented by local people and far from the tourist areas, the room is small but functional and very modern, comfortable bed. We had a good time, the staff were friendly.
Wonderful
The view from the room, the roof bar, the bed, the cafe, the location is amazing
What could be improved: We’d have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom so we didn’t have to go all the way downstairs as soon as we woke up for get our drinks

Exceptional
Nice and central hotel. Even while it was scorching hot. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and everything quite modern. Was able to stream to the tv without any hassle and the AC, lights and shutters were controlled by a tablet.
Wonderful
The lobby and amenities were fantastic. Rooftop bar and lower lobby bar. Great decor. Very helpful staff. Clean rooms.
What could be improved: Not enough outlets.
Wonderful stay, with a beautiful view
The fact that I could do anything from the app and/or the tablet in the room. That sleep mode was truly the best, knocked us out so quick.
What could be improved: There’s nothing we did not enjoy
