I’ll be honest – when I first walked into MOXY NYC Times Square, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star spot on 7th Avenue. The lobby hit me immediately with this energetic, almost clubby vibe that’s definitely not your typical hotel experience. There’s this massive communal table where people are actually hanging out with laptops and drinks, and the whole space feels more like a trendy co-working spot than a traditional hotel lobby. The check-in process happens at what they call the “Bar at Check-In” – which sounds gimmicky but actually works pretty well, especially if you arrive after a long travel day and want something stronger than hotel coffee.

What really surprised me about this place is how they’ve managed to make the rooms feel spacious despite being, well, pretty compact by most standards. The design is smart though – everything has a purpose, and there’s this industrial-modern thing going on with exposed concrete and pops of bright color. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and honestly, the shower pressure is better than half the luxury hotels I’ve stayed at in New York. You’re literally in the heart of Times Square here, which means it can get pretty intense outside, but the rooms are well-insulated so the chaos doesn’t really penetrate. I mean, you’ll still hear some street noise if you’re a light sleeper, but it’s manageable.

The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to be right in the thick of things – you’re a two-minute walk from the actual Times Square madness, but also surprisingly close to some decent food options that aren’t total tourist traps. There’s a pretty solid taco place just around the corner on 36th Street that locals actually go to, and you can walk to Hell’s Kitchen in about ten minutes if you want to escape the tourist bubble. The subway access is ridiculously convenient – you’ve got the B, D, F, and M trains right there, so getting anywhere in the city is pretty straightforward. What I really appreciated is that the staff seems to get that most people staying here want to experience the city, not hide from it in their hotel room. They’re genuinely helpful with recommendations and don’t just point you toward the obvious tourist spots. The whole vibe feels like it was designed for people who actually want to explore rather than just crash somewhere generic after seeing a Broadway show.
