Hotel Indigo NYC Downtown – Wall Street by IHG
I'll be honest, Hotel Indigo NYC Downtown - Wall Street by IHG caught me off guard in the best way possible.
I’ll be honest, Hotel Indigo NYC Downtown – Wall Street by IHG caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how a lot of downtown hotels feel either stuffy and corporate or trying way too hard to be trendy? This place actually strikes that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with personality without all the pretentious nonsense.
The location on Water Street is what really sold me though – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Stone Street’s cobblestone restaurant scene, and I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and grab coffee at one of those little spots before the Wall Street crowd descends. What’s brilliant is that you’re close enough to feel the energy of the Financial District but far enough from Broadway that you’re not dealing with tourist chaos at every corner. The subway connections are actually decent too – the R and W trains at Whitehall are right there, plus you’ve got the 4/5/6 at Bowling Green if you need to zip uptown.
This four-star spot has this whole neighborhood-inspired design thing going on, and honestly, it works. The rooms have these local photography prints and custom artwork that actually reflects the area’s maritime history – not just generic New York stock photos slapped on the walls. I stayed in one of their corner rooms and the windows gave me this unexpectedly great view of the East River, which you don’t always get in this part of town. The beds are solid (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms are modern without being cold. Actually, the shower pressure was surprisingly good for an older building – you know how hit-or-miss that can be downtown.
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. The front desk guy gave me this whole rundown of which Ferry routes were running that weekend and steered me toward this little wine bar on Stone Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The hotel’s restaurant scene is decent – their lobby bar gets busy with the after-work finance crowd, which creates this authentic local vibe that’s way more interesting than your typical hotel lounge filled with other tourists. Fair warning though, if you’re staying on a weeknight, it can get a bit noisy until around 9 PM, but honestly, that’s just downtown living. The weekends are actually quieter since the business crowd clears out. Parking is going to cost you – this is Lower Manhattan, after all – but there’s a garage two blocks away that the hotel has some kind of arrangement with, so at least you’re not driving in circles looking for a spot.

The decor and the bed was so comfortable . Also the lighting fixtures were cool
What could be improved: More lighting needed in bathroom and entrance area so one can see get ready
It was nice for one night
I liked how modern the room was. The TV in front of the bed with a backlight was nice.
What could be improved: My room was not available upon check in at 3. We had to wait until almost 430. Bathroom was very small and balcony could’ve been cleaner
Nice hotel but not the best view
Comfortable and very pleasing to the eye
What could be improved: Balcony could have been cleaner and had furniture. The view is terrible! There’s an office building directly across the street
Very Good
Bed was really comfy and good location
What could be improved: Not sure what the amenities fee is about absolute rort I thought it was a joke - but apparently most hotels in nyc charge it
Good
Great location
What could be improved: Overcharged me and failed to explain extra charge to my credit card. Have had to raise a dispute with Amex. Still trying to get an explanation of additional $304.50 charge.
Great.
Location.
What could be improved: Not able to lock balcony door.
Tried to charge a higher price than quoted on line.
Overall met my needs
Food/drinks excellent
What could be improved: Room size - so small
Convenient & clean, great location for subway & Brooklyn access
Location, cleanliness, comfortable, bath products ok
What could be improved: Small room, nowhere to put luggage, noisy corridor
Satisfactory, but costly
Good design and cleaned room. All the furniture in the room seemed new. Accessible by subway with many attractions near by like the 9/11 museum and memorial. The room, although small, had all the appliances necessary for a stay (iron machine, fridge, safe, coffee machine, air blower and TV). Also, more than enough soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and hand soup for the whole stay.
What could be improved: The only criticism that I have is that the shower sliding door did not closed properly and kept sliding back open, leaving the water out of the shower. This was easily fixed by placing a piece of carton in between the two doors to keep closed. This is something that the hotel can easily fix.
Great location and comfort and was excellent value.
Location of the hotel close to the subway, the comfort and cleanliness of the room, and knowledgeable and efficient reception staff. The shower was very good and liked the lighting in the room. The hotel provides a bottle of water for each guest each day.
What could be improved: The rooms are small but there is everything needed for a comfortable stay.
