Renaissance New York Times Square by Marriott

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels in Manhattan, and Renaissance New York Times Square by Marriott honestly surprised me in the best way. When you first walk up to it on Seventh Avenue – right there between 47th and 48th – you might think “oh great, another massive tourist trap hotel.” But here’s the thing: they actually get it right.
The lobby feels refreshingly calm considering you’re literally in the heart of Times Square chaos. I mean, step outside and you’re immediately hit with that familiar mix of street food, car exhaust, and those weird costume characters, but inside? It’s like they’ve created this bubble where you can actually think. The four-star rating makes sense when you see how they’ve balanced that upscale Marriott polish with something that doesn’t feel completely sterile. The rooms are bigger than you’d expect for New York – and trust me, that matters when you’re trying to navigate around your suitcase without stubbing your toe on the desk chair every morning.
What really won me over was the street-level energy without the street-level problems, you know? You’re a two-minute walk from the TKTS stairs, and honestly, being right on Seventh Avenue means you can duck into the subway at Times Square-42nd Street without doing that tourist shuffle through three blocks of crowds. The staff seemed to get that most guests are dealing with sensory overload from the neighborhood, so they’re genuinely helpful without being pushy – they’ll point you toward the quieter entrance on 48th Street if you’re dragging luggage, which is exactly the kind of local intel you need. I will say the street noise is real (hello, it’s Times Square), but the windows actually do a decent job blocking most of it, and honestly, part of me liked falling asleep to that distant hum of the city that never sleeps. The whole experience just felt right – upscale enough that you’re not roughing it in the middle of Manhattan, but grounded enough that you don’t feel like you’re hiding from the city in some corporate bubble.
Best hotels in New York range from luxurious Manhattan penthouses with Central Park views to boutique hotels in trendy Brooklyn neighborhoods and classic midtown properties near Broadway theaters.

Perfect location
Right in Times Square. It was great
What could be improved: They charge $75 a night for a rollaway bed. The couch in the room was very hard and uncomfortable. Extra bedding in the closet does not include a sheet to cover the couch to sleep on. Easiest to go buy an inflatable mattress from target for $40
Excellent
Location and cafe
What could be improved: The entrance smells garbage and really annoying.
Wonderful
Location is good.
What could be improved: When the door of other guests being closed all floor can hear and wake up.
Wonderful
The best housekeeping and reception staff we encountered during our 23-day trip in the USA! We stayed at 7–8 different hotels, but none had staff as attentive as this!
What could be improved: Times Square is, of course, a great location in terms of metro access and walking distance to attractions, but it’s extremely crowded, and getting to the hotel through the crowd was a bit challenging for us.
Very Good
Location, room great. Restaurant was closed😩
What could be improved: Restaurant closed
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance. I would definitely stay again.
Loved the location & views of Time Square from my room
What could be improved: Restaurant was under construction.
Very Good
Location. Room was relatively large.
What could be improved: The bed was not comfortable because the mattress pad did not fit properly. I asked for it to be changed but it was still a problem.
Very nice accommodations close to Broadway and restaurant row
Great location, We had breakfast off-site. Room was very nice. Cleanliness was very good
What could be improved: Hotel had a tiny lobby and common facilities. Not the "grand entrance" that I expected, but did not matter much for this trip.
Wonderful
Almost everything
What could be improved: No breakfast
Great location
Location
What could be improved: Could be more luxurious, bathroom could be refurbished
