Distrikt Hotel New York City, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
I'll be honest – when I first walked up to Distrikt Hotel New York City, Tapestry Collection by Hilton on 40th Street, I wasn't expecting much from the exterior.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Distrikt Hotel New York City, Tapestry Collection by Hilton on 40th Street, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s got that sleek, almost industrial look that could go either way, you know? But step inside and wow, they’ve really nailed that modern boutique vibe without being pretentious about it. The lobby feels more like a cool coworking space than a typical hotel, with these great communal tables where you’ll actually see people hanging out with their laptops instead of just rushing through.
What really sold me on this place is how perfectly it sits in Hell’s Kitchen – and I mean that in the best way. You’re literally a two-minute walk from all the pre-theater dinner spots on 9th Avenue (honestly, some of the best hole-in-the-wall places in New York are right there), but you’re far enough from the Times Square chaos that you can actually sleep at night. The four-star rating feels about right – it’s polished and comfortable without being stuffy or over-the-top expensive. The rooms are smart rather than spacious, which is what you’d expect in Manhattan, but they’ve used the space really well. I particularly loved the big windows that actually open – something you don’t always get in newer hotels.
The staff here actually seems to know the neighborhood, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to Brooklyn late one evening, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward the subway – he told me which car to get on at Port Authority to be closest to the stairs when I got off. Those little details matter when you’re trying to navigate the city. The fitness center is decent sized for a boutique property, and they’ve got this nice communal area on one of the upper floors where you can grab coffee and pastries in the morning. Parking is valet only (this is Hell’s Kitchen, after all), but they were straightforward about the cost upfront. If you’re planning to stay put and explore on foot or by subway, you really don’t need a car anyway – the A, C, E trains are practically at your doorstep, and you can walk to most of Midtown without breaking a sweat. I mean, where else can you grab amazing Thai food at 11 PM, catch a Broadway show, and still feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual personality instead of just another generic hotel room?

The stay was a
The breakfast was amazing and so was the staff.
What could be improved: I asked for face towels multiple times for 2 days and didn’t receive them. I complained about my faucet leaking and no one ever came to fix it.
Wonderful
The staff were exceptional. They made you feel welcome. Sent daily texts to see how things were going and to ask if there was anything they could do.
Great stay in a great city!
Location and credit which we used for breakfast. Staff were fab
What could be improved: Bit scruffy externally- scaffolding up outside
Excellent
Cudtomer service
What could be improved: The front Desk staff Robbi, so polite made you feel welcome
Having had the benefit of experience, I'd stay there again.
The hotel is great, room a little small, bed very comfortable, everything was clean! Local transportation and restaurants are readily available, and there is a lot going on. There are a number of hotels in that same block - wish the sidewalks were in better condition, some of the store fronts were a little shoddy. Then again, this is NYC!
What could be improved: Upon arrival, I was charged a $29/per day mandatory fee which could be offset by bar and restaurant use during my stay. I arrived before 3 p.m., the room was not yet ready so I checked by bag and went out, returning around 3:30. I wasn't planning on using either bar or restaurant to begin with, but if I did it would have to be by midnight that same day. What I did do, from the bar, is pick up two bottles of water and a packaged snack totaling under $10. For people like me, who are staying only one night, why don't they extend the use time through check-out time (noon) the next day - I might have had breakfast there.
So far so good but pls remove the mandatory $29 for meal or drinks i cant
So close to bus station
What could be improved: The mandatory $29 things every iam always there but this time i was surprised for that please change it!
Nice location for what I had planned. Would stay there again.
It was well maintained. Helpful staff with a nice bar on property. Rooms decent size. Convenient location. Less than mile walk from grand central. Area close to many attractions and food choices!
What could be improved: There was a daily $29 charge and credit thing that was never fully explained. I did not opt for paid breakfast in my booking. Even so my overall charges were same as I expected. Also, They could use more staff in the bar/lounge area. I went down to get a snack around ten on a Friday night and it was messy & the one staff member was obviously overworked/overwhelmed. Even so she was still pleasant. I didn’t end up getting anything.
Very Good
Breakfast good. Staff very helpful and friendly. Location perfect. Very close to Times Square.
What could be improved: N/A
I will stay again
Location & bed was very soft
What could be improved: Yall descriptions was way off the room did not come with microwave & only certain rooms came with refrigerators.
