First Impressions
Walking into The Gotham Hotel feels like stepping into one of those classic New York stories you’ve heard about but never quite believed. This four-star gem sits right on East 46th Street in Midtown East, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. I mean, you’re literally in the thick of everything that makes Manhattan exciting, but somehow the hotel manages to feel like a sophisticated retreat from all that urban energy.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to Grand Central in about five minutes, which means you’re connected to everything. Bryant Park is just a few blocks away, and if you’re into the whole Fifth Avenue shopping thing, it’s right there. But what really impressed me is how couples seem to absolutely adore this area. The feedback I keep hearing is that it’s got this perfect balance where you feel like you’re in the heart of the action, but you’re not dealing with the Times Square chaos. You know what I mean? It’s New York without the tourist traps right outside your door.
The Room Experience
Now, about those beds — and I’m not exaggerating here — they’re genuinely something special. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels where “comfortable beds” is just marketing speak, but The Gotham actually delivers on this promise. The room itself has this understated elegance that feels authentically New York rather than trying too hard to impress. The windows give you real city views (not just brick walls), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase without playing Tetris with your belongings.
Dining & Amenities
The American breakfast here is solid — nothing revolutionary, but it’s done well and gives you the fuel you need for a day of exploring the city. What I appreciate is that they don’t try to overcomplicate things or charge you premium prices for basic quality. The hotel’s restaurant serves food that locals would actually eat, which is always a good sign. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood, so they can point you toward that little coffee shop around the corner or tell you which subway entrance is least crowded during rush hour.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something refreshingly honest about The Gotham Hotel — it knows exactly what it is and doesn’t pretend to be anything else. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but it nails the fundamentals that actually matter when you’re traveling. The location score speaks for itself, and when couples are rating it nearly perfect for romantic getaways, that tells you something about the atmosphere they’ve created. You’ll sleep well, wake up in the heart of Manhattan, and feel like you’ve discovered one of those places that strikes the right balance between comfort and authenticity.

Excellent in every way!
Location, staff and cleanliness
What could be improved: Nothing
Would stay again if we go to NY.
Very comfortable and quaint. Loved it.
Great value if at reasonable price
It’s good value. At $350/night, it’s a good deal. No bells and whistles.
What could be improved: The “balcony” feature is a bit over exaggerated. From my third floor room, I was surrounded by walls and industrial AC’s and whatever other machines. Hardly a place to relax.
A brilliant return to NY after many years was made even more special by the Gotham Hotel
Location. Bed was super comfortable. Shower had good pressure. Room was the perfect size for a visit to NY. Clean. The staff were informal in a very professional manner.
What could be improved: The loo didn’t always flush first time. No boiling water to make a cup of tea
Simply lovely!
Loved the location, walking distance to Grand Central Station and other attractions, and the boutique size of the hotel. We also loved its unique architectural features, and the on-site restaurant is excellent. The outdoor decks on upper levels are cozy places to enjoy the midtown scenery. We totally enjoyed our stay and our interactions with the professional staff at the Gotham. Will definitely keep The Gotham Hotel on our list of top choices for a stay in NYC and recommend it to others.
What could be improved: Our only complaints are that the TV reception wasn't the best, and the bathroom had no towel bars. Also, updated phone charges are needed on the nightstands.
Will stay again, good location and quiet

Fun and around plenty of stores and restaurants!
It was a pleasure having someone open the door for us , they were so kind and informative at the front desk. Breakfast was good but wish we could use the 20$ towards that than for the liquor in the room :). Thank you!! Will be back.
What could be improved: No, everything was amazing!
Great hotel, will stay again
Staff was very friendly, Brandon checked us in and he was great. The room was super spacious especially for NYC. Very clean, comfortable bed, relatively quiet, strong air conditioning. We enjoyed sitting on the large community balcony in the evening.
What could be improved: The blinds weren’t great at blocking out the city lights
Had a great time. Friendly, easy, would definitely stay again.
Hotel was beautiful and quiet.
What could be improved: Could have used a microwave in the room.
A all around pleasure to stay at the Gotham Hotel.
Very clean , very professional , great size room for a family vacation.
What could be improved: Nothing . Everything was awesome!
