Hyatt Place New York Chelsea

Look, I've stayed at a lot of hotels in Manhattan, and Hyatt Place New York Chelsea honestly surprised me in the best way.

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Manhattan, and Hyatt Place New York Chelsea honestly surprised me in the best way. When you first walk in, there’s this modern lobby that doesn’t feel stuffy or overly corporate – it’s actually got some personality, with these comfortable seating areas where people are genuinely hanging out, not just passing through. The front desk staff? They know their stuff about the neighborhood, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to figure out dinner plans at 9 PM.

What I really appreciate about this four-star place is its location on West 24th Street. You’re right in the heart of Chelsea, which means you can walk to the High Line in about five minutes (and trust me, you want to hit it early morning or late afternoon to avoid the tourist crowds). The Flatiron Building is practically around the corner, and you’ve got the whole Chelsea Market scene within easy reach. But here’s the thing – even though you’re in the middle of everything, the rooms are surprisingly quiet. I mean, this is New York we’re talking about, so you’ll still get some street noise, but it’s not the kind that keeps you up all night.

The rooms themselves are smart – and I don’t just mean the tech (though the 42-inch TV and free WiFi that actually works are nice touches). The layout makes sense, with a separate living area that doesn’t feel cramped, even in the standard rooms. The beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable, and they’ve got these blackout curtains that actually block out the city lights. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, with a walk-in shower that has decent water pressure – honestly, that alone puts it ahead of half the places I’ve stayed in the city. There’s a 24-hour fitness center that’s small but has the essentials, and the Market (their grab-and-go food spot) is clutch when you need coffee at weird hours or don’t want to venture out for breakfast. You know what really sold me though? The rooftop terrace. It’s not huge, but on a nice evening, you can actually see some sky and breathe a little, which feels like a luxury in this part of town. The whole place just feels like they thought about what travelers actually need, rather than what looks good in photos.

Best hotels in New York range from luxurious Manhattan penthouses with Central Park views to boutique hotels in trendy Brooklyn neighborhoods and classic midtown properties near Broadway theaters.

Some goods some bass

Clean, good breakfast

What could be improved: Had to wait in long line to check in. Had to wait 15-20 min to get an elevator down with luggage. A wonderful young Portuguese couple brought our suitcases down two flights of stairs because elevator did not come. This was unacceptable.

Great location, safe, quiet at night…good for families.

Location was excellent! Rooms are very small but I think that is the case in every hotel in NYC:)

What could be improved: Tiny rooms

Great for a stopover in downtown Chelsea

Just a one night stopover before flying out he next day - everything with the hotel perfectly okay and Chelsea is a great neighbourhood.

What could be improved: No glasses or mugs in the room, only plastic!

Exceptional views powered by too few elevators

The view is amazing, location is great. Small but tidy rooms. Water pressure better than most other hotels in the city.

What could be improved: The elevators are so slow. And for the price point of the upper floor rooms the rest of the clientele doesn‘t really fit in.

Best value for comfort in the heart of Manhattan.

Amazing value in prime location. comfortable beds. Amazing views. Always book here when we stay in Manhattan.

What could be improved: Elevators always take a while. Pretty crowded breakfast area. nice they offer it but better to just pop out and grab something nearby.

Very Good

What could be improved: The elevators on the weekend took forever to get. Once you were on it, it would stop
At least 7 floors until it maxed weight. We were on the 36th floor and we had to take the steps down.

Wonderful

Breakfast and cleanliness!

What could be improved: The pullout sofa is a twin, not a full size sofa. TV never worked although they did try to fix it multiple times. We only had a short stay so didn't ask again.
