Little Charlie Hotel
I'll be honest - when I first walked up to Little Charlie Hotel on 2nd Avenue, I wasn't expecting much from the exterior.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Little Charlie Hotel on 2nd Avenue, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s tucked into that busy stretch of Midtown East where everything sort of blends together, but you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to shout about it from the street.
The moment you step inside though, this four-star place completely shifts your expectations. There’s this really thoughtful design throughout that feels more like a boutique spot than your typical midtown business hotel – warm lighting, interesting art pieces, and honestly, a lobby that actually makes you want to linger instead of just rushing through to the elevators. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too, which sounds basic but trust me, it’s not always a given in New York. Check-in was smooth, they knew about my early arrival without me having to explain everything twice, and the front desk guy actually gave me solid restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist traps.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to create this calm bubble in the middle of all that Midtown chaos. My room faced 2nd Avenue, and while you can definitely hear the city (I mean, it’s New York), the windows do a decent job of keeping the noise from being overwhelming. The rooms themselves are smartly designed – not huge, because let’s be realistic about Manhattan real estate, but everything has its place and the bed was genuinely comfortable. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious with good water pressure, which might sound trivial but after a long day walking around the city, that hot shower hits different. I actually appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with trendy fixtures that look cool but don’t work properly – everything just functioned well. The location is pretty perfect if you ask me – you’re walking distance to Grand Central (maybe 10 minutes), close enough to hit up the restaurants around Murray Hill, and it’s easy to grab the subway without having to navigate through Times Square crowds. I noticed a lot of business travelers during the week, but it didn’t have that sterile corporate hotel vibe that can make you feel like you’re staying in an office building. The 8.5 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there – it’s one of those places that just gets the details right without trying too hard to impress you.

Wonderful
I arrived late and there was no reception, but I still received all the necessary information in time, and my check-in went smoothly. In terms of location: 10/10, one of the coolest neighborhoods in New York, close to major attractions, with a grocery store, bus stop, and subway station right next to us. I absolutely loved it. After five days, I even went to a nearby laundromat to do my laundry, I truly felt myself as a local. The single room is small but has everything you need: enough storage space, a comfortable bathroom, TV, and air conditioning. I had a great time here and would absolutely come back anytime. Don’t forget to check out the rooftop, it’s really nice and atmospheric!
Awesome little hotel, really enjoyed my stay over here.
Location is great, midtown east makes traveling inside Manhattan easy. Room is very, very tiny, but adequate enough for me. Bed was extremely soft and comfortable. Staff was very nice and attentive, looked after my bags free of charge before check-in and after check-out.
The rooftop bubbles are awesome. Had my morning cup of coffee and sheltered from the rain, while still being outside in New York. Includes a heater too, if you need one.
Well-appointed room near Grand Central station that makes exploring NYC easy!
Location. Quality of the room. Quiet.
What could be improved: Nothing. Loved everything.
