Holiday Inn New York City – Times Square by IHG
The Holiday Inn New York City - Times Square by IHG sits right on 8th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen, and honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without paying Midtown Manhattan prices.
The Holiday Inn New York City – Times Square by IHG sits right on 8th Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, and honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without paying Midtown Manhattan prices. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Times Square chaos, but here’s the thing – you’re tucked into Hell’s Kitchen where the real New York energy is. The Port Authority is right there too, which sounds sketchy but is actually super convenient for airport transfers.
This three-star place doesn’t try to be fancy, and that’s exactly why it works. The lobby has that clean, modern Holiday Inn vibe – you know what I’m talking about if you’ve stayed at their newer properties. Check-in was smooth when I was there, though the elevators can get packed during the evening rush when everyone’s heading out for dinner or shows. The rooms are what you’d expect – compact but thoughtfully laid out, with those floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open (rare in NYC hotels, honestly). The beds are solid, and the bathrooms are small but functional. You’re not getting marble countertops, but everything works and it’s spotless.
What really sold me on this place is the neighborhood feel once you step outside. Sure, you can hit Times Square in minutes, but walk the other direction and you’re on 9th Avenue with some of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants in the city. There’s this little Colombian place two blocks down that locals line up for, and the staff actually knew about it when I asked. Speaking of staff – they seem to get that most guests are here to explore, not lounge around the hotel, so they’re quick with recommendations and don’t oversell you on stuff. The fitness center is basic but gets the job done, and there’s a business center if you need to print boarding passes or whatever. Noise levels are surprisingly manageable considering you’re in the heart of everything – I was expecting sirens all night but it was actually pretty quiet by 11 PM on weeknights. Weekends are obviously a different story, but that’s Manhattan for you. One heads up though – parking is expensive if you’re driving (but seriously, why would you drive in Times Square?), and the breakfast isn’t included, but there are about fifty coffee shops within a two-block radius, so no big deal. For the price point and location, it’s exactly what you want – clean, comfortable, and right where you need to be.

Location
What could be improved: No free breakfast 😔
Very Good
Easy accessible from Times Square
What could be improved: Elevator waiting times during sign out and sign in as well as busy times (30m+)
Good
Easy to find and get to from the train station
What could be improved: Pillows were too soft! And the mattress was a little uncomfortable.
Great hotel! The staff is extremely friendly. The location is a short walk from Times Square and Penn Station and there
Location, cleanliness, fast elevators, comfortable beds, friendly staff
What could be improved: Small rooms, narrow hallways
Great hotel in New York
The hotel was in a great location and was clean and quiet.
What could be improved: No breakfast
Wonderful
Excellent
Very Good
Amazing staff walk in shower
What could be improved: U had to pay for breakfast 20 dollars 👎
It was a great stay.
The rooms
What could be improved: The people sitting outside and the tenants at the hotel don't have anywhere to relax outside.
Great location. Security could do better to rid the entrance of weed smokers.
Great location. Great restaurant and bar staff.
What could be improved: Poor entrance area filled with people smoking weed. To be fair, they don't bother anyone, but just make the whole entrance area less appealing and obviously smell.
Good place to stay if planning to commute by walk, subway and bus
Was clean, location close to Times Square, subways, bus
What could be improved: Too small, no microwave on room, entrance was filled with people not in the property and made me a bit uncomfortable for first day and was cool after that as I saw security all the time inside the hotel
