Heritage Hotel New York City
I'll be honest – when I first walked up to the Heritage Hotel New York City on West 25th Street, I wasn't expecting much from what looked like just another narrow building squeezed between Manhattan storefronts.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Heritage Hotel New York City on West 25th Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another narrow building squeezed between Manhattan storefronts. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this three-star spot in the Flatiron District turned out to be exactly the kind of place that gets New York right without trying too hard.
The thing about staying here is that you’re literally in the thick of things without the madness of Times Square or the pretentiousness of some uptown hotels. I mean, you step outside and Madison Square Park is right there – and I’m talking about the good part where locals actually hang out, not some tourist trap. The hotel itself has this sort of old-school New York charm that feels authentic, like it’s been part of the neighborhood fabric for decades rather than some corporate chain that just landed here. The rooms are smaller than what you’d get in, say, Chicago or Atlanta, but honestly, that’s just New York being New York. What matters is that everything works – the shower has decent pressure (miracle in this city), the AC doesn’t sound like a freight train, and the beds are actually comfortable enough that you’re not tossing and turning after walking fifteen miles around the city.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Brooklyn for dinner, the guy at the front desk didn’t just hand me a generic subway map. He told me exactly which car to get on at 23rd Street to avoid the crowds and suggested this little place in Park Slope that turned out to be incredible. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience the real city instead of just checking boxes on some tourist itinerary. The Flatiron location means you can walk to Union Square in about ten minutes, hop on practically any subway line, and you’re close enough to both Midtown and downtown that nothing feels like a trek. Plus – and this might sound weird – but the street noise here is somehow more tolerable than other parts of Manhattan. Maybe it’s because 25th Street doesn’t get the same crazy traffic as the main avenues, but I actually slept pretty well most nights. Sure, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities or a rooftop pool, but sometimes what you need is just a solid, well-run place where you can crash between adventures without breaking the bank or feeling like you’re staying in some soulless box.

Parking is an issue.
Very nice desk staff, helpful. Room was clean, very nice bathroom, decent mattresses. AC was very old, but worked.
What could be improved: Booking dot com says there is parking but it consists of a paid lot a block and half away, $60 for our SUV. Luckily desk person told me half an hour later that we could park in the street because it was Saturday night. But we had already booked the parking...Elevators are very dated and slow to arrive. Wifi barely worked.
Wonderful
Simple but great. Location is excellent, everything worked fine!
What could be improved: A bit of noise from the outside but that's just NYC. Nothing major
Very Good
It was a really great experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: There is no water in the rooms.. other than that..its great
Great Value, Location, and Staff
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They gave us restaurant recommendations upon arrival and let us store our bags before check-in time. When we asked for room service, they clarified we had to do so in advance. Yet, the next day, full room service was done. Great staff! Location was also perfect, right in the center of Manhattan.
What could be improved: No microwave in bedroom, and restroom could've been a bit cleaner with more places to store/place things. Those are mostly nitpicks though.
Great location for the price
Property had an amazing location. Rooms were a bit small but perfect for two people who just needed a place to keep their items.
What could be improved: Elevators were slow, toilet paper was thin, and the comforter was four blankets stacked on top of each other.
Not for the claustrophobic
Good location, historic building
What could be improved: Narrow hallway, had to search for room

Room expected size. Clean, provided all expected items for its cost and did that well. Location was ideal, easy yo access all points of interest. Bed was comfortable
What could be improved: It is a budget hotel that did things well. Comments are evaluated that. On that basis there was nothing that requires further attention or discussion
