Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first walked into the Hilton Garden Inn New York Manhattan Midtown East, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place in this part of town. But you know what? This little spot on East 52nd actually surprised me in all the right ways.
The thing about staying in Midtown East is that you’re literally in the thick of everything without the Times Square chaos – and this Hilton Garden Inn gets that balance just right. I mean, you’re a quick walk from the Chrysler Building (which honestly never gets old to look at), and Grand Central is close enough that you can hear the city’s heartbeat without feeling overwhelmed by it. The lobby’s got this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t try too hard, and the staff actually seems to know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the tourist traps.
What really won me over was the attention to practical stuff that matters when you’re actually living in the space for a few days. The rooms are compact – this is New York after all – but they’ve maximized every inch smartly. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s actually decent counter space in the bathroom, which you’d think would be a given but isn’t always. The mini-fridge works properly, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and honestly, the blackout curtains are a godsend when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag with all that street light filtering in. I stayed on the seventh floor and barely heard the street noise, though the lower floors might be a different story – 52nd Street isn’t exactly quiet at 2 AM.
The fitness center is small but functional, and their 24-hour market thing in the lobby actually saved me a couple times when I needed coffee at weird hours or forgot to grab something basic. You’re not getting room service luxury here, but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on doing the fundamentals really well instead of trying to be something it’s not. Plus, being this close to so many great restaurants means you’re not exactly stuck for dining options – I probably walked past six different pizza places just getting back from the subway each night.
What struck me most was how the place manages to feel like a solid home base without breaking the bank in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the city. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with marble lobbies or concierge services, but when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city anyway, having a clean, comfortable, well-located spot to crash is exactly what you need. The elevator’s reasonably quick (minor miracle in older NYC buildings), check-in was smooth, and I never felt like I was compromising on the important stuff. For what you pay and where you are, it’s honestly a pretty smart choice.
Apartments in New York provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional delis and experience daily life in historic neighborhoods like Greenwich Village and SoHo.

Thank you
Everything was nice except the slow elevators
Great stay, perfect for exploring NYC.
Great location walkable right into the heart of the attractions.
What could be improved: Slow/broken lift. When they were trying to fix it we had to walk (luckily down) the 19 floors. Can’t be helped but just glad we weren’t checking out that day!
Very Good
Good location, clean, quiet from external street noise.
What could be improved: A lot of noise from doors from adjoining rooms opening and closing.
Very Good
Reception guy on the day of our check out was very nice and helpful, went above and beyond to help us with booking accessible taxi and helped with the baggage, thank you
What could be improved: Nothing really
Great location, excellent service, clean!
The front desk was excellent. Keshawn was great & could answer any/all questions. Our room was nice. It was super clean & was refreshed & cleaned very well. Excellent location & value. I would stay again.
What could be improved: Property was undergoing renovation, so it was difficult and lobby space was tight. ( But this is not a complaint- just an observation- can’t wait until it’s completed!!)
Also, the dining room staff were a bit lackadaisical/slack. Used Dishes were left tables, not cleaned up and staff were just chatting w/each other & on their cell phones scrolling. That is off- putting.
Great location
Great location and the view from the balcony was beautiful
What could be improved: I had an issue I was staying another night I dealt with 2 different staff both helpful but the next am of my extra day front staff said I needed to pay an upgrade fee it took about an hr to figure that out
In all my stay was enjoyable. The location is perfect, and the place is clean.
I like the cleanliness of the place
What could be improved: The bathroom was small. I was expecting a bathroom with a bath tub.
Perfect for what I needed to do. Also, staff were very helpful.
My room was very comfortable and the location was great for what I needed to do.
What could be improved: The was a spot on the carpet where the tile in the entry way transitioned to the carpet that was very worn--right through. Also, although clean, the beadspreads could have been refreshed. They were pretty beat-up.
Very Good
room is not large but has everything needed. great value for the price.
What could be improved: understaffed. i queued for more than 20 mins to checkin.
Great location and great hotel!
Location was very convenient. Area felt very walkable. Lots of food options nearby. Close to a subway line.
What could be improved: There was not enough toilet paper in our room nor were there any extra rolls available. Let the front desk know but had to go back downstairs to grab a roll. We also had issues with scheduling a car to the airport.
