First Impressions
Walking up to the Holiday Inn Manhattan 6th Ave – Chelsea by IHG on West 26th Street, you immediately get that “this is the real New York” feeling. It’s not trying to be flashy or pretentious — just a solid four-star hotel that knows exactly what it’s doing. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without being sterile, and honestly, after dealing with the chaos of New York streets, stepping inside feels like a genuine relief.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Chelsea — it’s one of those neighborhoods that locals actually hang out in, not just tourists. You’re literally steps from the High Line (I mean, you can see it from some rooms), and Madison Square Garden is close enough that you’ll hear the crowds on game nights. The restaurant scene around here is incredible — there’s this little Italian place two blocks down that I stumbled across, and you know what, it was better than half the “famous” spots in Little Italy. Plus, you’ve got multiple subway lines within a few minutes’ walk, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to get around the city.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was on the eighth floor, and while it wasn’t huge (this is Manhattan, after all), it was smartly designed. Everything you need is there — decent desk space if you’re working, blackout curtains that actually work, and a bathroom that doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a closet. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the air conditioning was quiet enough that I could sleep with it running. Sometimes it’s the little things, you know?
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is continental and buffet style, which I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much. But they do it right. Fresh fruit, decent coffee (not amazing, but definitely drinkable), and they have those little yogurt parfaits that somehow taste way better than they should. The breakfast area gets busy around 8 AM, so if you’re an early riser like me, hitting it around 7:30 gives you more space to actually sit and plan your day.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in the city, but it gets the fundamentals right in a way that matters. The staff actually seems to care — when I had trouble with the key card at 11 PM, the front desk guy didn’t act like I was bothering him. The parking situation is what you’d expect in Manhattan (expensive and limited), but there’s a garage nearby if you absolutely need it. What really sold me was the location score — couples rate it 9.0, and after spending a few days there, I totally get why. You’re in the heart of everything without feeling like you’re trapped in Times Square tourist hell.

Wonderful
It is in a very good location, the MSG is very close and there is a lot to see in the surrounding area.
What could be improved: Our room was supposed to come with a City view but was completely blocked by a building and water tower.

Overall, everything was great, but the soundproofing could be improved as we could hear noise from neighbouring rooms and outside.
What could be improved: The bed was comfortable and the location was very good. I will stay there again next time.
