Holiday Inn Lower East Side by IHG
I'll be honest – when I first walked into Holiday Inn Lower East Side by IHG, I wasn't expecting much from a chain hotel in this part of town.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Holiday Inn Lower East Side by IHG, I wasn’t expecting much from a chain hotel in this part of town. But you know what? This place actually surprised me. The lobby feels more boutique than corporate, with dark wood accents and industrial touches that fit the neighborhood vibe perfectly. It’s on Delancey Street, which means you’re right in the thick of everything – I mean, you can practically smell the pastrami from Katz’s Deli down the block.
The rooms are what I’d call smart-sized (hotel speak for compact, but they make it work). What I really appreciated was the attention to detail – proper blackout curtains that actually block out the street lights, and thick enough walls that you won’t hear every siren racing down to the Manhattan Bridge. The four-star rating feels about right; it’s polished without being stuffy. The bathrooms have those rainfall showerheads that actually have decent water pressure, which is honestly a minor miracle in New York. I stayed on the seventh floor and could see slices of the East River between buildings – not exactly a river view, but hey, you take what you get in this city.
What really sold me on this place was the location. You’re a two-minute walk from the subway (Essex-Delancey stop), but more importantly, you’re surrounded by some of the best food in the city. I’m talking about proper Lower East Side spots that have been here for decades, plus all the newer trendy places that food bloggers go crazy for. The hotel staff actually knows the neighborhood too – the front desk guy told me about this incredible dumpling place on Eldridge that I never would have found otherwise. Sure, weekend nights can get a bit rowdy with people bar-hopping through the area, but that’s part of the charm. If you want dead quiet, stay in Midtown and pay twice as much. The fitness center is small but functional, and there’s a decent business center if you need to print boarding passes or whatever. Honestly, for the price point and location, this Holiday Inn gets the neighborhood right – it feels like you’re staying somewhere that belongs here, not just another generic hotel that could be anywhere.

It was pleasant.
The booking and finding this location were done at the last minute, and it was about a half hour from our meeting.
What could be improved: It would have been great if the hotel had a parking permit for this location. I ended up with a ticket upon returning to my car the next morning.
Lovely little hotel, clean and well maintained room and very friendly staff.
Very clean room and great to have a fridge and a microwave too.
The staff were so friendly every time we left and arrived back at the hotel.
Great having iced water and free coffee in the lobby.
Never had to wait long for a lift! (Elevator!)
What could be improved: The room was a little too small for us as we had multiple suitcases as our stay was part of a much longer trip.
Not in the greatest of areas in terms of amenities.

Wonderful
Spacious rooms, lovely staff, great area full of restaurants and nightlife. Even when we had a problem with the air conditioner, they arrived immediately, fixed the problem in minutes and all services were with a smile. We will definitely be back.

Great location, great staff, comfortable room
The room was well equipped and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I arrived early so they looked after my case until it was time to check in.
The location is very good. Close to subways which got me to the attractions quickly and easily. The only slight downside is the area. Quite a few people begging and appearing under the influence of something. However, there are some lovely restaurants within walking distance so I think I would definitely choose this hotel again.
Clean, convenient location with friendly and attentive staff.
