First Impressions
Walking into Holiday Inn Lower East Side, an IHG Hotel, you immediately get that “this is actually pretty nice” feeling — you know, when a hotel exceeds your expectations without trying too hard. The lobby has this modern, clean vibe that feels fresh without being sterile, and honestly, the staff seems genuinely happy to see you. It’s one of those four-star places that gets the basics right and then adds some thoughtful touches that make you think, okay, they actually care about this place.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about the Lower East Side — it’s got this perfect mix of old New York grit and new energy that you just can’t find in Midtown. The hotel sits right on Delancey Street, which means you’re walking distance to some of the city’s best food (I mean, Katz’s Deli is practically around the corner), plus you’ve got easy subway access to get anywhere else. New York couples seem to really get this location — there’s something romantic about wandering these historic streets together, ducking into little bars and vintage shops. The neighborhood actually comes alive at night, but in a good way, not in a “you can’t sleep” way.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for Manhattan standards — and trust me, that’s saying something. The bed was comfortable (firm but not rock-hard), and the blackout curtains actually work, which is crucial when you’re dealing with city lights and early morning street activity. What I appreciated most was the thoughtful layout — there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped, and the bathroom has good water pressure. The windows offer decent street views, and if you’re lucky enough to get a higher floor, you can catch glimpses of the city skyline.
Dining & Amenities
The continental breakfast is honestly better than I expected — it’s not just sad pastries and burnt coffee. They’ve got fresh fruit, decent bagels (this is New York, after all), and the coffee is actually drinkable. There’s a restaurant on-site that serves solid American fare, though with the Lower East Side’s incredible dining scene right outside your door, you might find yourself exploring instead. The fitness center is small but functional, and the business center works well if you need to print boarding passes or catch up on emails.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is the combination of reliable comfort and authentic New York location. You’re not staying in some generic hotel bubble — you’re actually in a neighborhood where real people live and work. The hotel gives you a comfortable base to explore from, with parking available if you’re brave enough to drive in the city (though honestly, you won’t need a car here). It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing the real city, not just visiting it. Plus, the value is solid for what you get — good service, clean rooms, and a location that puts you right in the heart of one of Manhattan’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

Guest Reviews
Very close to the metro, and close to Essex market and trader Joe so it’s easy to move around and get good. There are also a number of very nice restaurants and a gentrified part where it is pleasant to go out to. Facilities were very comfortable and clean.
Nice service and good location.

Good location, great staff, comfy rooms. Great price for Manhattan!
Clean outside the hotel isn’t the greatest. Lots of homeless people.
Close by to subway and chinatown.
