You know what caught me off guard about Henn na Hotel New York? I was expecting some gimmicky robot hotel experience, but it’s actually a really solid four-star place that happens to have some pretty cool tech touches. Located right on West 35th between 7th and 8th Avenue, you’re literally in the thick of Midtown – I mean, you can practically smell the hot dogs from the street carts when you walk out the door.
The whole robot check-in thing is fun for about five minutes (and honestly, my kids were obsessed with it), but what really impressed me was how thoughtfully designed everything is. The rooms are compact but incredibly efficient – sort of like staying in a really well-planned studio apartment. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and I loved the automated room controls, though I’ll admit it took me a solid ten minutes to figure out how to dim the lights properly. The bathrooms are small but modern, with this rainfall showerhead that actually has decent pressure, which… let’s be real, that’s not always a given in New York hotels.
What I really appreciated was the location – you’re a quick walk to Penn Station, which is clutch if you’re doing day trips or have early trains, and Times Square is right there if that’s your thing (though honestly, I preferred having Herald Square so close for actual shopping). The street can get a bit noisy, especially on weekends when people are bar-hopping, but the windows do a decent job blocking most of it out. The neighborhood feels safe, and there’s a good mix of tourists and locals, so you get that authentic New York energy without feeling totally trapped in a tourist bubble. I grabbed coffee most mornings from this little place around the corner on 8th Avenue – much better than hotel coffee and half the price. The front desk staff (the human ones) were genuinely helpful when I needed restaurant recommendations, and they steered me toward some great spots in Hell’s Kitchen that I never would have found otherwise.

The room was really clean and housekeeping did a good job everday during my stay. Also, staff was really friendly and solution oriented to my questions. Especially Alestair helped me for my credit card issue and find an alternative payment method.
What could be improved: My credit card didn't work even though it was OK with other stores/shops. I neeeded to provide an alternative card details via emails and the process trials took like 1 hour. I wish there was a Booking online payment option instead of hotel POS for timeliness.

Perfect Stay and Outstanding Service. I had a perfect stay at the hotel, the location was excellent, very central and convenient, and the room was spacious, clean, and extremely comfortable.
What truly made the experience exceptional was the level of service I received, even after my departure. I had accidentally left some personal belongings in the safe, and Mr. John Tichacek, the Front Office Manager, went above and beyond to assist me. He personally prepared the package and brought it to a FedEx Drop Box in New York, ensuring my items were safely returned.
His professionalism, kindness, and efficiency were outstanding. It’s rare to encounter such dedication, and I am incredibly grateful.
Highly recommended, I will definitely return.

Amazing stay
- we got free early check in and late check out and it was very helpful.
- everything was clear since first time we booked , they sent us T&C and we liked the clarity , we paid deposit and we got it 2 days after check out.
- location was just perfect and near to everything we needed.
- staff were helpful smiling all time especially Rachel.
- room was clean and simple and the toilet was practical.
- definitely if we go back again to NYC we will book in this hotel again and again

The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, and the location made it easy to get around. Staff were helpful whenever needed, even with the tech focus. The location was convenient, with easy access to transportation, restaurants, and attractions, which made traveling around so much easier. Everything was smooth. Recommended and would definitely stay again!

What could be improved: The side of the bed where I slept was slanted toward the edge and I felt I was going to roll off but thankfully did not!
A wonderful and excellent hotel—by far the best we’ve stayed at in NYC, with only a few minor issues.

What could be improved: On our last night, there was water leaking from the bathroom ceiling, and the air conditioner occasionally had a stuffy odor.
