Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan / Soho
I'll be honest – when I first walked into Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan / Soho, I wasn't expecting much from what I assumed would be just another chain hotel.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan / Soho, I wasn’t expecting much from what I assumed would be just another chain hotel. But this place actually surprised me in all the right ways. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t feel sterile, and you know what really struck me? How quiet it was despite being right on Varick Street. I mean, you’re still in New York, so there’s street noise, but the rooms are surprisingly well-insulated.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without paying those insane Midtown prices. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Spring Street subway stop, which I didn’t realize until I was already there – that’s the kind of detail that makes or breaks a trip when you’re hauling luggage around. The whole SoHo area has this energy where you’ve got these cobblestone streets mixing with high-end boutiques and art galleries, plus some really solid restaurants. I grabbed breakfast at Balthazar one morning (it’s maybe a five-minute walk) and honestly felt like I was living my best tourist life.
What really won me over about this four-star place was the practical stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling. The Wi-Fi is fast – like, actually fast enough to video call home without looking pixelated. The fitness center is small but has decent equipment, and it’s usually empty in the mornings if you’re into that early workout routine. The rooms themselves are exactly what you’d expect from Marriott, but in a good way – everything works, the beds are comfortable, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I stayed on the seventh floor and had a partial view of the Hudson River, which was a nice bonus I wasn’t expecting.
The front desk staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood, too. When I asked about getting to Brooklyn Bridge, the guy didn’t just point me toward Google Maps – he told me which subway entrance to use and mentioned that walking across the bridge at sunset was worth the tourist crowds. Small things like that make a difference. The only minor complaint I’d have is that the elevators can be slow during busy check-in times, but honestly, that’s pretty typical for hotels in this part of the city. If you’re looking for somewhere that puts you right in the heart of downtown Manhattan without the Midtown chaos, and you want reliable amenities without breaking the bank, this place delivers exactly what it promises.
To book hotel in New York during the iconic Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration, visitors should make reservations well in advance as this global metropolis attracts millions of tourists from around the world.

Wonderful
Nearby subway station, few blocks away from soho, so its quiet but still close to stores and foods.
Love the stay!
Good accommodations close to Soho shops
Close to cute areas. Comfortable beds. Rooms are small, but typical new York. Small lobby and coffee shop. Nice staff. Felt safe.
What could be improved: Not in the heart of Soho, so The street that it is on is not very cute however it is just a couple blocks to the Soho shops and cute restaurants.
Great place to stay in New York City with very nice comfortable rooms
The purpose of my stay really was just to spend one night down in the financial center and this room really fit the bill. The room was relatively large, very clean and modern with comfortable bed and nice working bathroom. Thankfully, it also had an iron and ironing board for my wrinkled clothes! The location was great for me as it was just a few minutess to walk to the financial center, and just a nice place in general. The Wi-Fi was working fast.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, being a Marriott, or for whatever reason, things are not very efficient. The check-in required a document verification procedure, which in my mind is reprehensible. They needed to take a $20 deposit, but only via physical credit card, which is already outdated. And just signing into the Wi-Fi, you have to jump through several hoops, as opposed to just connecting it immediately. Alas.
Wonderful
What could be improved: One operator failed to listened well but was redeemed by another
safe choice
It is a very decent choice to spend time in New York. Most important of all, clean! The facilities are nice and value for money, considering NY is a very expensive city.

What could be improved: We asked for a crib a number of times but we did not get it until 1am when we was sleeping.
