I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Executive Hotel Le Soleil New York on West 36th Street, I almost missed it. It’s tucked between some typical Midtown buildings, and there’s something refreshingly understated about the entrance that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a bit of a secret. You know what I mean? Not every hotel needs to scream at you from the sidewalk.
The thing that really got me about this four-star place is how they’ve managed to create this warm, almost residential vibe right in the middle of all that Midtown chaos. The lobby has this rich, golden lighting that immediately makes you forget you’re literally a few blocks from the mayhem of Times Square and Herald Square. I mean, you’re close enough to walk to Macy’s in about three minutes, but inside Le Soleil, it feels like you’re in some elegant townhouse. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day – which, honestly, doesn’t happen much in New York unless you’re dropping serious cash at the five-star places.
What really surprised me was how quiet the rooms are, considering you’re smack in the middle of everything. I stayed on the seventh floor facing 36th Street, and yeah, you can hear some street noise if you really listen for it, but it’s not that jarring honking and construction sound that usually keeps you up in Manhattan hotels. The rooms themselves have this sophisticated but comfortable thing going on – lots of deep blues and golds, decent-sized bathrooms (a miracle in NYC), and windows that actually open, which is rarer than you’d think. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. I actually slept past my alarm, which never happens when I’m traveling for work. The only minor thing – and this is really nitpicking – is that the elevators can be a bit slow during check-in rushes, but honestly, that’s pretty much every hotel in the city.
Location-wise, you’re in this perfect sweet spot where you can walk to Penn Station in about eight minutes, which is clutch if you’re catching trains, but you’re also right there for all the Broadway shows and restaurant scene. I grabbed breakfast a couple times at that little Korean place around the corner on 37th – the kind of spot you only find because you’re staying somewhere that locals actually know about. The hotel’s concierge pointed me toward a few places that definitely weren’t in any guidebook I’d seen. That’s the kind of insider knowledge that makes a stay memorable, you know? You’re paying for expertise, not just a bed, and Le Soleil delivers on that front without making you feel like you need to take out a second mortgage.

A really comfortable and ideally situated hotel with exceptional friendly staff.
The hotel was in an ideal location in the Garment District/Korea Town for local bars and restaurants and for exploring NY on foot and by subway. The hotel had by far the friendliest reception and managerial staff that we have ever encountered in all our years of travelling. They were sociable, helpful and welcoming. Top staff and a great hotel.
What could be improved: The hotel restaurant and bar were being refurbished during our stay but the hotel made available a complimentary continental breakfast in the ground floor lounge area which was very helpful.
Very Good
Staff very friendly and helpful throughout and great location to mid town and easy access to subway. Room was as advertised and bed very comfy.
What could be improved: More hanging / storage please
Wonderful
Property was very clean and updated. Room layout was nice with couch/ sitting area separate from bedroom area. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Clean rooms and professional staff
Very friendly and accommodating staff. The room was very clean and housekeeping was exceptional.
What could be improved: Everything was excellent.
Absolutely wonderful stay and lovely staff! Would definitely stay here again.
The location has great access to the subway lines in Manhattan and is walking distance from stores and restaurants. Room was very clean and comfortable.
Wonderful
Great mid-town location. 3 blocks from Penn Station, Times Square and Empire State Building.
Rooms were good size for NYC. Didn't try restaurant.
What could be improved: Concierges were good but their line of questioning suggested they were on kick-backs with the local limo service. Perhaps dial back the hard sell
Wonderful
Perfect location, friendly staff and I really like the cooled water with fruits they leave at the reception for everyone to cool down
What could be improved: AC is a bit noisy
NYC trip
Very central, room bigger than standard rooms in NYC. Very friendly staff.
Good, would stay again.
While the room was on the smaller side the bathroom was large and amazing and the bed was insanely comfortable. View of the Empire State Building was cute and I enjoyed how much light the room had thanks to the massive windows. Staff were so friendly and attentive.
What could be improved: The space between the bed and the desk was so small. I get it’s New York but making the rooms so little is so unattractive. The lobby also had a weird mildew smell? I couldn’t wait to get to my room fast enough. It was quite bad.
fabulous and courteous
exceptional people and exceptional staff
What could be improved: nothing
