My room faced west, and while you definitely hear the city (this is New York, after all), the windows do a decent job of muffling the worst of it. I actually found the ambient city noise kind of soothing after the second night – though if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs just in case.

What really won me over was how the hotel doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. It’s not the quietest spot in the city, and you’ll pay Manhattan prices for everything, but sometimes you want to be right in the middle of the energy rather than observing it from a distance.
