First Impressions

Walking into Arlo SoHo feels like stepping into one of those boutique hotels that actually gets it right. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without trying too hard to be trendy — you know what I mean? It’s a four-star property that doesn’t scream for attention, which honestly makes it more appealing. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles, not the rehearsed hotel welcome you get at some places.

Location Magic

Here’s the thing about staying in SoHo — you’re literally in the heart of everything that makes New York exciting. I could walk to some of the city’s best shopping, grab coffee at tiny cafes tucked between cast-iron buildings, and still feel like I was in a real neighborhood rather than tourist central. The cobblestone streets outside give you that authentic Manhattan feeling, and honestly, couples seem to love it here (I overheard the front desk mentioning they get tons of positive feedback from romantic getaways). You’re close enough to Little Italy for amazing dinner options, but far enough from Times Square to avoid the chaos.

The Room Experience

I’ll be straight with you — the room isn’t huge, but it’s smartly designed in that way that makes every inch count. The bed was actually incredible; I mean, I’ve stayed at places twice the price with beds half as comfortable. They weren’t kidding about the sleep quality here. The bathroom felt modern and clean, with good water pressure (always a win in older NYC buildings). There’s something about the way they’ve arranged everything that makes the space feel bigger than it is — maybe it’s the large windows or the minimal but functional furniture.

Neighborhood Perks

What I really appreciated was how the hotel connects you to the real SoHo experience. You can grab breakfast at a local spot just around the corner, or if you’re feeling fancy, there are some seriously good restaurants within a few blocks. The area has this perfect mix of high-end boutiques and quirky vintage shops — I spent way too much time just wandering around. Parking can be tricky in this neighborhood (as expected), but the hotel staff gave me solid recommendations for nearby garages that weren’t completely overpriced.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Arlo SoHo works because it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. It’s a well-located, comfortable hotel that lets the neighborhood do the heavy lifting for entertainment and dining. The beds are genuinely great, the location score speaks for itself, and you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically New York without the tourist trap vibe. If you want to experience SoHo properly — walking to galleries, discovering hidden bars, people-watching from sidewalk cafes — this place puts you right where you need to be. It’s not flashy, but sometimes that’s exactly what makes a hotel memorable.

A friendly hotel in a excellent location.

The location was excellent. Walking distance to numerous shops and restaurants, and close access to the subway. Hudson Street is very pleasant. Clean, wide sidewalks, not crowded. A nice walking street. The staff was great, kind, friendly and helpful. They were also kind of playful and funny, which I like. The room was quiet and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. There was a comfortable spacious lobby. The hotel was clean, and had a nice friendly vibe.

What could be improved: The rooms are small. Room for a bed, small desk, and one small chair. No bureau or closet. The bathroom was a decent size. Me and my wife are both senior citizens, and were there Saturday and Sunday nights. Not the hotel's fault, but on Saturday night it was a party hotel. Everybody was happy and nice, but the crowd was young and a pretty wild. There was a lot of noise, but we didn't hear it in our room. Sunday was much more tame.

Cool vibes! Very well thought out and lovely staff

I liked that it had a little grosser and that they were clever with the small space they had! I think it was very well thought out

What could be improved: It could just be because our Australian dollar is so bad, but the price of the food at the little minimart was quite expensive
