The Westin New York at Times Square

First Impressions Walking into The Westin New York at Times Square feels like stepping into a calm oasis right in the middle of all that Times Square chaos.

First Impressions

Walking into The Westin New York at Times Square feels like stepping into a calm oasis right in the middle of all that Times Square chaos. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by the neon madness outside, but the moment those doors close behind you, there’s this immediate sense of sophisticated quiet. The lobby has this modern elegance that doesn’t try too hard — clean lines, warm lighting, and staff who actually seem happy to see you rather than just going through the motions.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about staying in New York — location isn’t just about being close to stuff, it’s about being close to the right stuff without losing your sanity. This five-star hotel sits right on West 43rd Street, which puts you within walking distance of basically everything you came to see. Broadway theaters are literally around the corner, and you can hit Central Park, the High Line, or catch a subway to anywhere in about five minutes. What I really appreciate is that couples seem to get it — they consistently rate the location over 9 out of 10, and honestly, I can see why.

The Room Experience

You know what’s rare in Manhattan? A hotel room where you can actually get a decent night’s sleep. The beds here are something else — I’m talking about that perfect firmness that supports you without feeling like you’re sleeping on concrete. The rooms themselves have floor-to-ceiling windows that give you these incredible city views, and the soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re in the heart of Times Square. The bathrooms are spacious by New York standards, with rainfall showers that make you want to linger a bit longer than usual.

Dining and Amenities

The breakfast buffet situation is actually pretty solid — they’ve got the usual suspects but done well, plus some local touches that show they’re paying attention. The hotel restaurant serves up quality food without the tourist trap pricing you’d expect in this area. There’s also a fitness center that’s well-equipped and rarely crowded, which is a nice surprise. If you’re driving (though honestly, why would you in Times Square?), they do have private parking available, but you’ll pay Manhattan prices for it.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to deliver luxury without the pretentiousness that sometimes comes with it. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out — they’ll steer you toward the good stuff and away from the tourist traps. The combination of being right in the action but having a peaceful retreat to return to is pretty much perfect for a New York visit. Plus, there’s something satisfying about watching the Times Square crowds from your window while sipping coffee in your robe, knowing you don’t have to fight for a cab or navigate confusing subway directions to get anywhere you want to go.

very good

Hi
We loved the location, we loved the rooms.
We liked the front desk service at check-in and check-out.

What could be improved: At the entrance to the lobby downstairs, the service was a bit cool, and what do you mean? We were with luggage, there were 4 people at the entrance (service people) we were less interested in them, they were waiting for the big cars, we came with luggage, it is very difficult to enter the hotel through revolving doors only without help, no one directed us to the elevator, we needed an elevator because the counter is on the first floor and not downstairs.
The bathroom lights turn on automatically, which is a nice idea, but in the middle of the night when you go to the bathroom, they turn on very brightly and wake everyone up.
I suggested either installing an option to cancel it, or an option to reduce the lighting intensity.

Good

Location if you want to be near Time Square. Spacious room with comfy beds.
Fantastic view of Time Square.

What could be improved: The staff were never helpful. The room was never cleaned properly.
You have to push them to get things done.
The concierge is good. But, you have to double-check whatever booking he is making for you. He booked me a wrong return ticket from the outlet, and I was stuck there.

Great location, but dated hotel

Great location, close to Times Square and subway stations

What could be improved: Frustrating checkin experience. Had to wait for an hour for my booking to arrive from booking.com

Comfortable beds, safe, and close to subway.

We really liked the comfortable beds and the ability to catch the subway to explore the rest of Manhattan. We don't love Times Square in general but the lobby on the 2nd floor away from the crowded streets was nice and the rooms were quiet also. We loved take out from LOS TACOS No.1 down the street combined with a margarita from the hotel bar for an easy and affordable family dinner after a day of NYC adventure.

Wonderful

Perfect location. Everything within easy walking distance. The bus station to take the coach to New Jersey outlet mall just across the road. The underground metro and Broadway right on your doorstep. Could not have asked for a better location. We had a room with 2 double beds that were super comfy and a view of Madam Tousourds. For the gym rats the gym is perfectly equipped for a good workout. Everyone in the hotel were super friendly and we felt perfectly safe when stepping outside the hotel.

What could be improved: We had the buffet breakfast the first morning but found it quite expensive after tax and tips were added. There are plenty of perfectly good restaurants close by that serve amazing breakfasts at half the price though my daughter loved the waffles and the bacon was amazing in the hotel.
