First Impressions
Walking into The Marmara Park Avenue feels like discovering one of Manhattan’s best-kept secrets. This five-star boutique hotel sits quietly on East 32nd Street, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you weren’t looking — which is actually part of its charm. The lobby has this understated elegance that screams luxury without being flashy about it, and the staff genuinely seems to remember your name after the first day.
Prime Manhattan Position
You know what I love about this location? You’re literally in the heart of New York without feeling like you’re drowning in Times Square chaos. The Empire State Building is a five-minute walk — I mean, you can practically reach out and touch it from some rooms. Murray Hill is one of those neighborhoods that locals actually live in, so you’ll find real New Yorkers grabbing coffee at the corner deli instead of just tourists with cameras. The subway access is fantastic too; you’ve got multiple lines within a few blocks, which makes getting anywhere in the city pretty effortless.
The Accommodations
My room was surprisingly spacious for Manhattan standards — and trust me, I’ve stayed in plenty of shoebox-sized places here. The design feels distinctly Turkish (The Marmara is actually a Turkish luxury brand), with these beautiful marble accents and rich fabrics that somehow manage to feel both exotic and comfortable. The beds are seriously good — like, sink-in-and-forget-your-jetlag good. What really impressed me was the attention to detail: heated bathroom floors, blackout curtains that actually work, and windows that open (a rarity in NYC hotels).
Dining and Amenities
The rooftop restaurant is where this place really shines. The views are absolutely stunning — you’re looking out over the Chrysler Building and the East River, especially magical at sunset. The Turkish-Mediterranean menu is sophisticated without being pretentious, and the service feels genuinely warm rather than just professionally polite. There’s also a fitness center that’s actually worth using (not just a treadmill crammed in a closet), and the business facilities are solid if you’re here for work.
Why Guests Love It
Couples particularly seem drawn to this place, and I can see why — there’s something inherently romantic about the combination of luxury and intimacy here. It’s not a massive chain hotel where you feel like just another guest number; the staff actually cares about making your stay memorable. The fact that recent guests consistently rate the location so highly tells you something important: this isn’t just a place to sleep, it’s a genuine base for exploring the city. You’re paying for five-star luxury, yes, but you’re also getting that rare thing in New York — a hotel that feels like a sanctuary rather than just a pit stop.
Our Rooms
Guest Reviews
For a whirlwind weekend of seeing the sights of NYC, the Marmara was a welcome oasis to call home.
Beautiful place to stay, classy and understated. The staff was fantastic, very helpful. Location was very walkable to all the places we wanted to see.
Wonderful
The room was beautiful and the area was vibrant and lively.
What could be improved: The carpet in the room didn't look very clean and some of the amenities in the rest room could have been updated.
Great location, clean, comfortable and friendly hotel
Large room with two large double beds (very comfortable), double aspect with view of the Empire State Building and small kitchenette (kettle/coffee machine, fridge but no sink or microwave/cooker). A couple of small issues were dealt with very rapidly. A slightly later checkout was allowed for us which helped.
What could be improved: The pool water was a little on the cold side when we were there, but a friendly lifeguard was always on duty. The pool closes for a break between 5.00-5.30pm - good to know when you finally get the kids ready and go down to find the pool!
Great stay
Exceptional location, friendly staff, wonderful stay
Wonderful
Everything
What could be improved: The price
A very good option for families
The hotel is well located. It is close to the Korean tow, Empire State and other interesting sites. Our room was well cleaned and full of kitchen items. The bed was very comfortable! The bathroom was nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even gave a teddy bear 🧸 to my son and he loved it. The entrance of the hotel is well decorated and it is stunning.
What could be improved: The indoor swimming pools should have an hotter water. Maybe a jacuzzi should be a good investment.
Wonderful stay and keen to return
Great location, fantastic staff and very comfortable spacious room. Swimming pool and gym were excellent.
What could be improved: Nothing to suggest
Ok
Overpriced
We had a brief but very nice time, the hotel is beautiful and in a wonderful area . Definitely would stay there again.
I loved the mattress, pillows and down type comforter they were nice and very comfortable!
What could be improved: The indoor pool is absolutely beautiful but I wished it was warmer. The temperature of the indoor pool was way too chilly for me. As a result of the pool being so cold I didn’t get to use it as much as I would have liked to. The indoor pool was one of the main reasons for booking this hotel so I was disappointed I didn’t get to really use it.
Wonderful
Perfect location, awesome staff, nice rooms
What could be improved: iPad and tv issues but luckily we didn’t really need them
