First Impressions
Walking into SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square South, you immediately get that \”this is actually doable\” feeling — you know, when a New York hotel doesn’t make you question your life choices. The lobby has that clean, modern Marriott vibe without being stuffy, and honestly, after dragging luggage through Hell’s Kitchen streets, the air conditioning hits just right. It’s one of those four-star places that gets the basics perfectly without trying to be something it’s not.
The Hell’s Kitchen Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot on West 36th — you’re close enough to Times Square that you can walk there in about five minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the Elmo costume chaos right outside your window. Hell’s Kitchen has become this amazing food neighborhood, and I mean really good stuff, not just tourist traps. You’ve got everything from hole-in-the-wall Thai places to those trendy spots that somehow make a $16 sandwich worth it. The Port Authority is walkable too, which actually matters when you’re trying to get to airports or catch buses.
Suite Life
The room setup here is what makes this place work — these aren’t just regular hotel rooms, they’re proper suites with separate living areas. You get a mini-fridge, microwave, and enough space to actually unpack without everything ending up on the bed. The pull-out sofa isn’t just for show either; I’ve seen families make it work really well. Windows face different directions depending on which floor you’re on, but honestly, the city views are pretty solid from most angles.
Morning Fuel
The breakfast situation is better than you’d expect from a chain hotel — they do this American buffet thing that’s actually substantial. I’m talking real eggs, not just pastries and sad coffee. The restaurant area gets busy around 8 AM (classic business traveler rush), so if you’re not an early bird, maybe grab something around 9:30 when it calms down. They keep it stocked well, and the coffee doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting there since yesterday.
Why Guests Love It
Look, couples absolutely love this place — there’s something about having actual space in Manhattan that makes everything feel less cramped and stressful. You can get ready without bumping into each other, and there’s room to just sit and plan your day without everything spread across a tiny bed. The location score speaks for itself, but what really sells it is that you feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood, not just a tourist bubble. Plus, when you tell people you’re staying in Hell’s Kitchen, it sounds way cooler than saying \”near Times Square\” — even though you’re basically getting the best of both worlds.

Enjoyed our stay - very helpful, friendly staff.
Modern, clean and tidy
What could be improved: A little further from Times Square than expected. Room was very small.
Location excellent. Close to Penn Station and Broadway.
Breakfast can be improved. Different choices for cooked eggs besides scrambled. Fried egg. Poached eggs. More salad variety. Different fruits like grapes, apples, kiwis.
What could be improved: Crowded breakfast. No all day coffee.
Good choice of hotel for a City centre break
It’s in a great location within easy walking distance of the theatre district and Penn Station. The room was clean, comfortable and so quiet.
What could be improved: Corridor carpets are shabby and very worn. At breakfast paper plates and plastic cutlery which are so environmentally unfriendly and aesthetically unappealing.
Pleasant stay
The hotel is in a great location, in the middle of Manhattan. It is nicely decorated and has a good breakfast. The staff is helpful. I had a pleasant stay.
What could be improved: The elevator is slow so you have to wait a long time. Sometimes it's better to use the stairs if you're not on a far floor. I was a little surprised by the paper plates and plastic cutlery in a 4-star hotel. The cleaners sometimes only clean the room at 6pm which is not very practical.
We would stay there again.
Location was good. Room was small but comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The buffet breakfast which was included was very good. We looked at it as an added bonus because we had our 2 grandchildren and it's always a hassle finding a place to eat breakfast. Not to mention the added expense.
What could be improved: The room was very small but it was fine. It appeared that one of the outlets wasn't working because we couldn't get the coffee maker to work. I thought it was the coffee maker but then when I tried to charge me phone I realized that there didn't seem to be a power in that outlet. The others seemed to work fine.
Wonderful
The price was reasonable , it was a nice stay and clean.
Wonderful
The location and cleanliness of the accommodation were good. The staff spoke limited English. The quality of breakfast was average, with little variety of vegetables and fruits. The restaurant was small and constantly crowded.
Good choice for a 4-day visit for first timers.
The location was good for getting to tourist activities on mass transit. Breakfast was reasonable, though not the most extensive breakfast selection for a major hotel. Staff members were friendly and helpful.
The hotel looked very clean and well maintained.
We did not end up staying at the hotel because there was a booking error. We booked for three people (two adults and one child), but the hotel only received the reservation for two people. Therefore, the assigned room was unfortunately not suitable for us.
Nevertheless, I would like to give the hotel a positive review:
The hotel itself looked very clean and well maintained.
We had the chance to see the room, and it was tidy and appealing.
Most importantly, the hotel staff handled the situation very well. Even though they could not offer us a suitable alternative, they kindly cancelled our reservation free of charge so we could quickly find another option.
Thank you very much for that! I am sure we would have had a pleasant stay, and I can definitely recommend this hotel.
What could be improved: x
The staff is great
It is my second stay and I’m likely to go back. I like the location, the cleanliness and the atmosphere.
What could be improved: I missed the happy hour. My suggestion is to have the happy hour back with live music and half priced drinks. During my first stay those were very popular
