First Impressions
Walking up to The Gallivant Times Square on West 48th Street, you immediately get that classic New York energy — it’s right there in the thick of everything, but somehow manages to feel like a proper hotel rather than just another tourist trap. The entrance has this modern, clean look that honestly feels refreshing after dodging the usual Times Square chaos. I mean, you’re literally steps away from all the Broadway theaters, which is pretty incredible when you think about it.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about this four-star spot — the location is genuinely spectacular. You can walk to pretty much any show you want to catch, and I’m talking about a two-minute stroll, not some “walking distance” that turns into a 15-minute hike. The subway access is solid too, with multiple lines nearby, so getting around the city is actually easy. What I really appreciated was how couples seem to love staying here — there’s something romantic about being able to grab dinner in Hell’s Kitchen and then catch a late show without worrying about long commutes back to your hotel.
The Room Experience
The room itself is well, compact but smartly designed — this is Manhattan, so you know what you’re getting into space-wise. What surprised me was how quiet it actually gets at night, considering you’re in the heart of Times Square. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern with decent water pressure (which honestly matters more than you’d think after a long day of walking around the city). The windows give you glimpses of the city buzz below, but the soundproofing is better than I expected.
Practical Perks
The staff here actually knows the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good pizza places that locals hit up, not just the tourist spots. There’s no parking on-site, but honestly, you don’t want a car in this part of Manhattan anyway. The lobby stays busy but not chaotic, and there’s usually someone around who can help with theater tickets or dinner recommendations. I found their local knowledge pretty solid — they steered me away from some overpriced tourist traps and toward a great little restaurant that I never would have found on my own.
Why Guests Love It
Look, The Gallivant Times Square isn’t trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, and that’s actually part of its charm. It’s about location, location, location — and then delivering a solid, comfortable stay without any unnecessary fuss. You’re paying for that incredible access to Broadway and the energy of Times Square, but you’re also getting a place where you can actually relax at the end of the day. For couples especially, there’s something pretty special about being able to experience all that New York theater magic and then just walk a few steps back to your hotel. It’s the kind of place that makes a New York trip feel effortless, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to pack in shows, restaurants, and all the classic city experiences.

Guest Reviews
24-hour concierge, good location, quiet room (9th floor), only the bathroom that gets a little wet when taking a shower, but they promptly gave us a towel for the floor and everything was fine.
The location is superb close t Broadway and Times Square
The location is really good, a 5 minute walk from Times Square and plenty of subway stations around. Staff on reception were pleasant and the cleaning staff were super helpful. Room was large, particularly for NY.
