Studios Midtown Manhattan
I'll be honest – when I first walked up to Studios Midtown Manhattan on West 31st Street, I wasn't expecting much from what looked like just another narrow building squeezed between everything else in NoMad.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Studios Midtown Manhattan on West 31st Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another narrow building squeezed between everything else in NoMad. But you know what? This little three-star spot actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The thing about this place is that it gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. The studios (and yes, they really are studios with proper kitchenettes) are clean and smartly designed – someone clearly thought about how to make these compact spaces actually livable rather than just technically habitable. I mean, you’ve got a full-size fridge, a decent cooktop, and enough counter space to actually prep a meal, which honestly saved me a fortune during my stay in New York. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, and here’s something I really appreciated – the windows actually open, which you’d be shocked how rare that is in the city. Sure, you’ll hear some street noise, but it’s that ambient city hum rather than anything jarring, and it dies down after midnight.
What really won me over though was the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way that every hotel claims. Being right there in NoMad puts you within easy walking distance of both the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by some genuinely great food spots that locals actually go to. There’s this little Korean place two blocks down that I stumbled onto my second night, and honestly, it became my regular dinner spot. The Herald Square subway station is maybe a three-minute walk, so you can get pretty much anywhere without thinking twice about it. I also loved that it’s far enough from Times Square to feel like you’re in the real city, but close enough that if someone in your group insists on seeing the tourist stuff, it’s not a whole expedition. The front desk staff actually knows the neighborhood too – they pointed me toward a laundromat and a late-night pharmacy without me having to ask twice or explain what I was looking for. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees or surprise charges, and they let me store my bags for a few hours after checkout while I wandered around before my flight. It’s not luxury by any stretch, but for the price point and the neighborhood, it delivers exactly what you’d want from a solid midtown base.

Pleasant stay in a clean, warm property in an excellent location.
Location was excellent and property was very clean. The owner was very accommodating with any requests.
What could be improved: I would have liked chairs (even folding ones) instead of stools for some comfort and back support, but that’s just from a personal perspective.
Good value for money
It’s very well located if you’re looking for a place in Manhattan close to all attractions.
What could be improved: The rooms and bathrooms are rather small, but they were a good option for a budget group trip
Very Good
Great location, clean, accommodating.
What could be improved: It was suppose to be four separate beds. There were only three resulting in two having to share one of the beds.
