SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan Chelsea

I'll be honest – when I first walked into SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan Chelsea, I wasn't expecting much from another Marriott property.

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan Chelsea, I wasn’t expecting much from another Marriott property. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this modern, clean vibe that doesn’t feel sterile like so many chain hotels do, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests walk through the door.

What really sold me on this four-star spot is how perfectly it sits in the Chelsea neighborhood. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the subway on 28th Street, which means you can get anywhere in the city without dealing with the chaos of Times Square hotels. The Flatiron Building is right there when you step outside – I mean, you can see it from some of the higher floors – and you’ve got all these great little cafes and restaurants scattered around that tourists haven’t completely overrun yet. I grabbed coffee every morning at this tiny place called Birch Coffee just around the corner, and honestly, it became my favorite part of the day.

The suites themselves are what you’d expect from a newer Marriott, but bigger than most New York hotel rooms – and that’s saying something. The bed was actually comfortable (not always a given), and I loved having a proper sitting area separate from where I slept. The kitchenette isn’t going to win any design awards, but it’s functional if you want to avoid spending forty dollars on room service breakfast. One thing that impressed me was how quiet it stayed at night, even though you’re on a pretty busy street. I’m usually a light sleeper, but the windows must be decent quality because I barely heard the traffic. The WiFi worked perfectly too – important when you’re trying to video call family back home or get some work done. Check-in was smooth, parking is available in the building (though pricey, like everywhere in Manhattan), and they have a decent fitness center if you need to work off all that amazing New York food. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s exactly what you want from a modern hotel in one of the best neighborhoods in the city.

It was great, room size didn’t matter much

Clean and very well situated.
Was put on the 44th floor, amazing view of downtown.

What could be improved: Very small room for two beds. It works but can’t leave luggage open anywhere.
Also no closet or drawers.

Wonderful stay in NYC!

We stayed at this hotel for a week while exploring NYC, so our room became a quiet refuge after walking thousands of steps every day! We found it to be very comfortable and conveniently located near the #1 subway. The front desk staff was great and the included breakfast buffet was a real bonus, although there’s a Bagel Pub around the corner that’s definitely worth trying. We look forward to returning soon!

Clean, Comfortable and Great Location

Very clean, great location, comfortable, friendly staff, well-equipped room

What could be improved: The door locks of all the rooms are very noisy, so, the noise from other rooms door locks wake you up early or even in the middle of the night

NYC is expensive! This place is good value for the money.

The location is fantastic, easy to get to and easy to get around from, with the 1 line West 28th station right on the block and Penn Station a short, easy walk. Broadway, with lots of restaurants and a green market, is also close. A lovely "plus" is that florists operate all along the street near the hotel during the day: looks and smells great, like being in a lush garden. Most of the staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I appreciated the included breakfast, with lots of good choices. I will definitely stay again.

What could be improved: I experienced one staff person working the breakfast service as rude and aggressive, barked, "Go! Go! Go!" and pointed at a table when I arrived. (Everyone else was VERY friendly and professional!) There were a couple of minor "flaws" in the room that needed fixing: leaking faucet and broken window blind. I'm sure they'll get taken care of!

A great place to stay while visitng NYC!

The location is perfect near the subway system. We loved being in the Flower District - walking through the flowers being unloaded off of the trucks every morning. We were very impressed with the large breakfast buffet. With so many to feed, the staff seating you, cleaning up, replenishing the food were efficient and kind. In fact the entire staff was amazing, kind, informative and always greeted you with a smile even in the middle of lots of guests. The rooms by NYC standards were tight but definitely doable especially with the comfortable beds, pillows and sheets. The maid service was fantastic and our room was spotless.
We will definitely stay here again when visiting NYC.

Great experience

Very good location, close to a lot of tourists sites, clean and friendly staff. I would recommend to friends and family.

What could be improved: It would have been great to have more space in the family room.

Clean, with a great view from the room and a convenient location — perfect for a short stay or a day trip.

Clean, with a great view from the room and a convenient location — perfect for a short stay or a day trip.

What could be improved: The breakfast could be improved — there wasn’t much to choose from, the bread seemed a bit old, and there were no vegetables. It also felt uncomfortable when staff pointed with their finger to show where to sit. A warmer, more welcoming atmosphere would make the experience much better.
