Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square
Look, I'll be honest – when I first walked into Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square, I wasn't expecting much from what I assumed would be just another tourist trap hotel.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square, I wasn’t expecting much from what I assumed would be just another tourist trap hotel. But this four-star place actually surprised me in the best way. The lobby hits you with this sleek, modern vibe that somehow doesn’t feel cold or intimidating, and the staff genuinely seemed to care about getting you sorted quickly (which, you know, matters when you’re dragging luggage through midtown Manhattan after a long flight).
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between being right in the thick of everything and still giving you a place to actually decompress. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Times Square chaos – I mean, you can hear the energy from the street but it doesn’t overwhelm you once you’re inside. The rooms are surprisingly quiet considering you’re on 47th Street, and honestly, the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve encountered in New York. They’ve got these floor-to-ceiling windows that make even the smaller rooms feel spacious, and if you’re lucky enough to snag a higher floor, the city views are pretty spectacular. The bathroom setup is smart too – good water pressure and enough counter space that you’re not playing Tetris with your toiletries.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the little things that show they get what travelers actually need. The WiFi works everywhere (shocking, I know), there’s a proper fitness center that’s open 24/7, and the rooftop bar situation is genuinely great for unwinding after pounding the pavement all day. You’ll pay New York prices for drinks, obviously, but the atmosphere makes it worth it. The breakfast isn’t included but there’s a decent restaurant downstairs, and honestly, you’re surrounded by some of the best food in the city anyway. Getting around is ridiculously easy – multiple subway lines within a block, and you can walk to most of the major tourist spots if that’s your thing. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because checking out felt premature. It’s one of those places that manages to feel like a real refuge in a city that can be pretty overwhelming, while still keeping you plugged into everything that makes New York exciting.

Excellent.
We did not have the breakfast package, room only.
Location was excellent. Elevators fast, no wait, even during the busy times.
Room was spotless, beautiful bathroom, good water pressure with shower.
What could be improved: Would have liked coffee in the room but there is a Dunkin' right across the street!
The doors are thin, can hear everything in the hallways.
That's it, overall, a great stay.
Great hotel, clean and great location.
Great location for first timers to New York.
What could be improved: No umbrellas to hire when raining (not a big deal really). The picture out front could do with updating as it’s pretty uncool lol (again not really a big deal)
We went for a quick trip to have a nice dinner and watch a show on Broadway

The location was ideal for touring around Manhattan. Safe, clean, friendly and helpful staff.
What could be improved: Would have liked a kettle in the room to make drinks as and when needed!

We Love the location of the hotel and the cleanliness of the hotel. Everyone we came into contact with that worked at the hotel was awesome. We are planning to return to New York for a longer stay and we will be booking this hotel again.
