First Impressions
Walking into Residence Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square feels like finding a calm pocket in the middle of Manhattan’s chaos. You know what I mean — you step off Avenue of the Americas with all that midtown energy swirling around, and suddenly you’re in this surprisingly spacious lobby that doesn’t feel cramped like so many New York hotels. The four-star property has this extended-stay vibe that actually works in its favor, honestly. Everything feels more residential than your typical tourist trap.
The Location Sweet Spot
Here’s the thing about this spot — you’re literally in the heart of everything without being right on top of the Times Square madness. I mean, you can walk to Broadway shows in about five minutes, but you’re not dealing with the Elmo costume guys right outside your window. The location score of 9.7 makes total sense when you realize you’ve got Penn Station, Herald Square, and all those subway lines within easy reach. Couples especially seem to get it (they rated the location 9.6), probably because you can actually have a conversation on the street without shouting over tour groups.
The Room Experience
What surprised me most was the space — and I don’t just mean for Manhattan standards. Each room is actually a suite with a separate living area, which feels like such a win when you’re trying to spread out after a long day of walking around the city. The kitchen setup is pretty solid too, with a full-size fridge and everything you need if you want to grab groceries instead of eating out for every single meal. The beds are comfortable (thank goodness), and the windows are decent-sized, though don’t expect sweeping skyline views at this price point.
Practical Perks
The buffet breakfast is honestly better than I expected — nothing fancy, but it gets the job done and saves you from hunting down coffee and pastries first thing in the morning. What really caught my attention was that they have private parking available, which is sort of like finding a unicorn in midtown Manhattan. Sure, it’ll cost you, but if you’re driving into the city (brave soul), it’s one less headache to deal with. The staff seems to know their stuff about the neighborhood too, which helps when you’re trying to figure out the best way to get somewhere.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it strikes that balance between being in the thick of things and giving you room to breathe. You’re getting more space and amenities than most hotels in this area offer. The extended-stay setup means you can actually unpack and settle in, even if you’re just here for a long weekend. Plus, there’s something to be said for a Marriott property — you know what you’re getting, and in a city where hotel quality can be all over the map, that consistency is worth something.
Best hotels in New York range from luxurious Manhattan penthouses with Central Park views to boutique hotels in trendy Brooklyn neighborhoods and classic midtown properties near Broadway theaters.

Very good location
What could be improved: Long waiting time to elevator,
Altogether an enjoyable comfortable experience
Spacious room, nice facilities.
Excellent location near Time Square
What could be improved: Breakfast was great though not so comfortable in a lounge setting with trying to get seating together for a large holiday group and elevator gets very busy in the morning
Very nice stay
Great location to visit NYC. Good breakfast. Nice staff.
What could be improved: The air conditioning was noisy and a little difficult to setup.
Excellent stay. Staf amicable. Neat and clean.
Prime location
What could be improved: Property banks and creamer not provided in the room in time
Wonderful, the front desk was excellent in meeting our requests.
The overall service was lovely, the breakfast provided a variety to choose from.
What could be improved: The long elevator wait time. But we understand that it was peak tourist season.
Good
View of the Empire State Building is beautiful (we were on 29th floor). Location is great.
What could be improved: Elevators are atrocious. During the morning you can wait 15 long minutes before catching an elevator with space.
Breakfast is mediocre, but at least it's included.
Bed is comfortable but the fold out couch is awful for anyone larger than a small child.
