Radio Hotel

I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Radio Hotel up in Washington Heights, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The neighborhood isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, but that’s actually part of what makes this place interesting. It’s this four-star boutique spot that feels like a well-kept secret, tucked away on Amsterdam Avenue where the city starts to feel more residential and, well, breathable.

The first thing that hits you is how quiet it gets once you’re inside – which is saying something considering you’re still in Manhattan. Washington Heights has this authentic neighborhood vibe that’s hard to find closer to Midtown, and honestly, it’s refreshing. You’ve got Fort Tryon Park just a short walk away (seriously, the views of the Hudson from up there are incredible), and if you’re into food, the Dominican spots along Broadway are some of the best in the city. I mean, you’re not going to stumble out the front door into Times Square, but the A train gets you downtown in about 20 minutes, and there’s something nice about coming back to an area where people actually live rather than just visit.

What surprised me about Radio Hotel was how thoughtfully designed everything feels – the rooms have this modern but warm aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard to be trendy. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and you know what I appreciated? The windows actually open, which is rarer than it should be in New York hotels. The staff seemed to know the neighborhood well too, which matters when you’re staying somewhere that’s not crawling with concierges on every corner. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving (street parking is typical city chaos), but most people are taking the subway anyway. The whole place has this relaxed energy that feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in the city, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want – somewhere comfortable and genuine where you can actually get some sleep and wake up feeling like you’ve experienced a slice of real New York life.

Great I’ll be back…

It beautiful and I love the location and the neighborhood.

What could be improved: It was a private part on the roof that went to 3:30am with very loud music…but I stayed here multiple times and this is my only complaint. Love this place!

It was quite lovely.

The room was clean and comfortable

What could be improved: The hallway to your room can be a little more lit. It’s pretty dark.
The mini fridge can be bigger.

Nice room

I liked the hotel atmosphere and the room. They had an outside event when we were there and it was definitely a vibe. The room was very nice, small but nice.

What could be improved: I didn't like that their was some miscommunication going on between me and one of the front desk employees. We were told a check-in time but got there after we anticipated and wasn't able to check in and had to wait around elsewhere.

This may have to be the hotel I come back to based on service, cleanliness, and location

This hotel was very clean and safe, I loved the ambiance and the young man at the desk was very welcoming and helpful!! The subway is also relatively close by took about five minutes to walk to and with that we were able to get around nyc very easily. The lobby is so clean and staff was very happy to help, security, front desk, and restaurant staff were all great! The room was just as advertised and we loved the window looking out to the public space. We are very much chronic over packers and all our clothes, shoes, and toiletries/makeup fit in the room. We also came back in everyday from exploring to a freshly made bed, fresh towels, and a tidy room, amazing! Loved it here, not planning on going back to NYC very soon however this may have to be the hotel I come back to based on service, cleanliness, and location; the price is also great not bad at all. This place was very affordable coming from a broke college student who had to fly across the country too! Loved it here and I hope to go back!

What could be improved: The shower was somewhat translucent and I can see that being an issue but as I was with one of my closest friends we didn’t really mind it. It just cause a bit of “omg”s to slip out.

I can say my stay in this Decent and lovely hotel was worth every money I spent I recommend this hotel to any traveller

Neat, welcome and staffs were amazing.

What could be improved: Love everything except that the rooms did not have complimentary bottled drinking water at check-in. I have to come back downstairs to talk with the front desk and a lady apologised politely and also offered me one for free.
