First Impressions
Walking into Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical stuffy hotel experience. The lobby has this modern, almost tech-forward vibe that feels refreshingly different from the cookie-cutter places you usually find in Manhattan. It’s compact but smartly designed — honestly, everything about this place seems to prioritize efficiency without sacrificing style. The staff actually knows what they’re doing, which is more than I can say for some of the pricier spots I’ve stayed at in the city.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what really sold me on this place? The Chelsea location is absolutely perfect. I mean, you’re right on West 24th Street, which puts you walking distance from the High Line, Chelsea Market, and some of the best galleries in New York. The neighborhood has this great energy — it’s not touristy like Times Square, but it’s not pretentious either. Plus, couples seem to really love it here (I can see why), and the location score speaks for itself. You can actually walk to most places you’d want to go, or hop on the subway easily when you need to venture further.
The Room Experience
The room design is where this four-star hotel really shines. Everything feels intentional — from the way they’ve maximized the space to the tech integration that actually works. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are surprisingly well-appointed for what you’d expect in this price range. I appreciated the thoughtful touches, like the charging stations and the way they’ve managed to fit everything you need without making the space feel cramped. The windows offer decent city views, though don’t expect anything too dramatic.
Breakfast & Amenities
Here’s something practical — they do breakfast to go, which honestly makes perfect sense for a hotel in this part of Manhattan. You’re not stuck sitting in some formal dining restaurant when you could be out exploring the city. The grab-and-go setup means you can fuel up and get moving, which is exactly what most travelers want anyway. The amenities are streamlined but effective — they’ve focused on what actually matters rather than trying to cram in a bunch of stuff you’ll never use.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it gets the balance right between location, comfort, and value. You’re staying in one of the best-rated areas in the city, but you’re not paying those insane Midtown prices. The hotel feels fresh and current — like they actually thought about how people travel today rather than just copying what hotels have always done. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing the real New York, not some sanitized tourist version of it.

Excellent location. Lovely modern hotel. Staff really good. Lovely bar
Excellent location.
What could be improved: Air con very noisy
I’ll be back and did I mention the restaurant??
Great relaxed vibe and it’s close to public transit rail lines. All within walking distance. Nice to be in Chelsea and away from midtown madness at the end of the day too. The landmark view is totally worth it. Hello 1WTC!
What could be improved: The rooms are small, but to be expected. Some noise from neighboring rooms and scraping sound from elevator could be heard. Nothing ear plugs couldn’t fix.
Terrific location, just out of the hustle and bustle of Times Square and surrounded
The staff was terrific. The onsite restaurant was delicious. The room was small but functional.
Loved everything but one feature with the lighting
Location was great, bed was very comfortable, had a nice view from my room downtown. Enjoyed the cocktails at the bar.
What could be improved: I really did not like the motion-sensor lights. The one in the bathroom snapped on every time I got near the bathroom even though I kept turning it off. It drove me a little crazy, getting up to use the bathroom several times a night, anything brighter than a night-light or my cellphone on "dim" will wake me fully.
Exceptional
We had a top floor room, the view was amazing, very clean can't fault anything. Ladies that clean the rooms were very good the room was spotless.
What could be improved: Having to leave
Nice hotel, with good location. Great for a NYC holiday. Less than 10m walk from Penn Station
The setup for the family room with the vaulted bed above the primary bed was great.
Gym was well appointed and staff was friendly.
Service to get to the airport was useful.
What could be improved: internet was a tad slow
Very Good
Loved the location and the room!
What could be improved: I was expecting breakfast to be included but it wasn't. I'm used to at least a little continental breakfast, or a happy hour for hotel guests.
Room could use a coffee maker.
A little more table space,
Wonderful
The view is incredible!
Exceptional
Loved the location making it easy for non-American citizens such as our selfs to get to our pre-booked activities without any problems.
What could be improved: There was no hand wash liquid but rather there was hand lotion, which doesnt make sense.
Exceptional
Loved everything- the best experience in the perfect spot!
