The Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza sits in this interesting pocket of Midtown East that honestly feels a bit removed from the typical tourist chaos – and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re right across from the United Nations complex, which gives the whole area this sort of international, diplomatic vibe that’s pretty unique for New York. The hotel itself is this towering four-star property that’s been around long enough to have that solid, established feel without being stuffy about it.
What really struck me when I first walked in was how the lobby manages to feel both grand and surprisingly welcoming. The staff actually seems to know what they’re doing, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how rare that can be in some Manhattan hotels. The rooms are what you’d expect from a Hilton – clean, comfortable, nothing revolutionary but everything works the way it should. The views are honestly the real selling point here, especially if you score a room facing east toward the river. You get this incredible perspective of the Queensboro Bridge and Roosevelt Island that most visitors never see because they’re stuck staring at brick walls in Midtown West.
The location is one of those things that’s either perfect for you or completely wrong, depending on what you’re after. If you want to stumble out your door into Times Square madness, this isn’t your spot. But if you appreciate being able to walk to Grand Central in about ten minutes, or if you’re doing business anywhere in the UN area, it’s actually brilliant. The neighborhood has some genuinely good restaurants that locals frequent – not just tourist traps – and you’re close enough to the East River waterfront that you can take these great morning walks that feel almost peaceful (well, as peaceful as New York gets). The subway access is decent with the 4/5/6 trains at Grand Central, though you’ll find yourself walking a bit more than you might in other parts of Manhattan. Parking exists but it’s expensive, which is pretty much the story everywhere in the city. The hotel does get busy during UN General Assembly weeks in September, so if you’re planning around then, just know the whole area turns into this diplomatic circus with security everywhere – fascinating to watch, but definitely more chaotic than usual.

Wonderful
Incredible location and views. Front desk staff exceptionally helpful.
What could be improved: Difficulty with handicap accessibility but manageable.
Excellent hotel for business travelers
The hotel is ranked top in my list of hotels in NYC due to the following reasons:
1 - the location is wonderful new to the UN building and walking distance from all services (groceries, laundry, restaurants, entertainment)
2 - friendly staff: I had a great experience since I arrived at 11:00 and the check-in time was at 16:00. Adina “the receptionist” exceeded my expectations is expediting the process to check me and my friends at 14:00. I really appreciate her high sense of customer service especially when I was flying for more than 15 hours. Thank you Adina
3 - the high security standards in the hotel.
4 - the room I checked-in to was spacious , clean, had nice modern furniture, and a spectacular view of the city
What could be improved: The check-in time is really late @16:00
A nice spot to stay in the city!
The room was large and the beds very comfortable. I also appreciated having a tub. The staff was wonderful!!
What could be improved: I was very upset that I wasn’t told about the $35 daily charge in addition to what Booking.com quoted. They explained that I could use that $35!towards food at the Ambassador Grill or the UN Cafe, but they were quite expensive so I would not normally have my food there. I also wish they had laundry service! I was also sad that it was an 11 minute walk to the nearest subway station.
good
room and view excellent, more cheese in breakfast
What could be improved: cheese and salami at breakfast, restaurant menu could be richer
It was an excellent location for my work week at the UN
Had a lovely view of the Bay
What could be improved: Nothing much
Wonderful
View from window
What could be improved: Room not cleaned every day and not fresh towels every day
Very Good
Staff
What could be improved: $100 Parking fee plus it being taxed
Very Good
What could be improved: Parking was a NIGHTMARE!!!
I enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.
What could be improved: The lady who checked us in could have been nicer and more helpful. I had forgotten to bring one of my credit cards so I had difficulty checking in. The lady who checked us in was not helpful or nice. She added to my stress levels. We went back to reception about two hours later, there was a gentleman at reception at that stage. He was extremely helpful and so nice he sorted everything out sorted everything out, which was excellent. Nothing was a problem for him, which was such a a relief. I didn’t get the ladies name,?which I regret. From that moment on everything else was Excellent.
Wonderful
Great location . Hotel was clean, friendly staff, spacious rooms.
What could be improved: The check- in time of 4pm and the additional cost if you wanted to check in earlier.
