Hotel Hugo
I'll be honest – when I first walked into Hotel Hugo, I wasn't expecting much from the outside.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Hotel Hugo, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s tucked into this busy stretch of Greenwich Street where SoHo gets a bit grittier, and the entrance is pretty understated. But you know what? That actually works in its favor because once you’re inside, it feels like you’ve discovered something special rather than just another flashy hotel trying too hard.
The whole place has this four-star vibe that’s polished without being stuffy – think industrial chic meets boutique comfort. The lobby’s got these gorgeous exposed brick walls and these massive windows that let in tons of natural light during the day. I mean, you’re right in the heart of New York here, so there’s always something happening outside to watch. The rooms themselves are surprisingly spacious for Manhattan standards, and I loved the little touches like the locally-sourced bath products and the way they’ve incorporated the building’s original architectural details. The beds are seriously comfortable too – I’m talking sink-into-them-and-forget-your-problems comfortable.
What really sold me on this place though is the neighborhood situation. You’re literally steps from some of the best shopping and galleries in SoHo, but you’re also close enough to walk to Little Italy, Chinatown, or even the Financial District if you’re feeling ambitious. The subway’s right there on Spring Street, which honestly makes getting around the city so much easier than some of those Midtown hotels where you’re fighting tourist crowds just to catch a train. And here’s something the guidebooks won’t tell you – the block gets pretty quiet at night despite being in such a busy area, so you can actually sleep without earplugs. The staff seems to really know their stuff too; they gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on, including this little wine bar around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking‘s going to cost you (this is New York, after all), but there’s a garage nearby, and really, you probably won’t need a car once you’re here anyway.

Great spot, comfy beds and good location.
Cute hotel, friendly staff. Great little coffee shop nice quiet street.
What could be improved: Rooftop can be crowded. Pillows not very good.
Great visit and stay for 5 nights
Love the location close to my favorite areas to walk to and the bed was very comfortable.
Wonderful
The view from the Rooftop bar over looking the water and city view was excellent.
Staff was always friendly and helpful, inquiring about our visit to New York.
What could be improved: In room coffee maker was dirty couldn't use but they provided free coffee to guest throughout the day and evening while the coffee bar was open.
The most perfect location at a great boutique hotel !!
Great location in a quiet area. You can walk to a lot of locations within a hour like Maddison square, summit one, Times Square to name a few. Subway station was a 5 min walk.
Hotel room was big for New York. It was clean. Housekeeping came everyday they were super friendly in fact all the staff were so so friendly. If I saw them in the elevator or in passing they always acknowledged me. Maria checked me in she was so lovely & recommended a few places to go. Concierge guys were so lovely as well. seeing as they are the first to greet you they really were just so friendly.
There was a rooftop that actually never visited but seemed popular place.
I just need to say again how amazing the location was. Away from all the busyness & fuss. It was less than 10 min walk from Hudson River which was so lovely to walk through. Overall felt so safe as a solo traveler.
What could be improved: I can't say anything to be honest only small thing blind wouldn't go all the way down so if you need full blacked out room to sleep that would be the only thing. Otherwise nothing I didn't like. Book the hotel !!!
Lovely location, staff and rooms two blocks from the Hudson River Park in a quiet section of SoHo.
The location was perfect, SoHo and two blocks from the Hudson River Park. Very close to the subway. Easy walking distance to great restaurants and things to see. The room was comfortable for two people - small space, but nicely appointed and quiet neighborhood. The staff was exceptionally friendly and efficient. The rooftop bar was awesome.
What could be improved: Our AC unit was broken and we ended up moving rooms at midnight when their "fix" didn't work. The staff was eager to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Along with coffee provided at the restaurant anytime you wanted it, they should also offer complimentary tea.
Good
Great location good rooftop lovely Service. Great cafe downstairs.
What could be improved: Air conditioning in the rooms was super noisy
You could hear some street noise on weekends, but overall not too bad
The gym was tiny but functional and upright cycling bike would have been great as an addition and a bit more space to do Mat work
Lovely property with good value and (for NYC) big rooms
Love the location and the room size and layout. Beds are comfy. Also rooftop bar has great views and good vibe.
What could be improved: Main complaint is shades let a lot of light in—no way to avoid lots of sunlight at sunrise.
Was a great stay overall.
Rooftop Bar
What could be improved: Room felt moisty cause of AC and heat outside
Overal a great stay, great service and a lovely location.
The staff, the room, the view, the service
What could be improved: There was no wifi for 2 days, this was a bit of a bummer as we had to add expensive data from our providers on our accounts.
Very Good
Clean and very well located
What could be improved: Cleaning room at 6pm is very late and disruptive
