First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Hayden New York on West 28th Street, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I wanted” feeling. It’s one of those four-star boutique places that manages to feel both polished and approachable — honestly, the kind of spot where you can roll up in jeans or dress up for dinner and feel equally at home. The lobby has this warm, contemporary vibe that says “we know what we’re doing” without being stuffy about it.
Chelsea Neighborhood Charm
The location in New York is actually brilliant, and I mean that — Chelsea puts you right in the sweet spot between Midtown’s energy and the Village’s character. You’re a quick walk to the High Line (seriously, like five minutes), and Madison Square Garden is close enough that you can catch a game without the hassle of a long commute. What I really appreciate is how you can duck into authentic local spots for coffee or grab late-night food without fighting tourist crowds. The restaurant scene around here ranges from hole-in-the-wall gems to places you’d want to impress someone at.
The Room Experience
The rooms here strike that perfect balance — they’re not huge by Manhattan standards, but they’re thoughtfully designed so every inch works. I was impressed by how they managed to fit everything you actually need without making the space feel cramped. The beds are genuinely comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss hotel beds can be), and the bathrooms have good water pressure, which honestly matters more than fancy marble. Each room has these big windows that let in actual natural light, something you don’t always get in this part of the city.
Practical Perks
What really won me over were the little things that make a difference when you’re actually staying somewhere. The WiFi works everywhere — and I mean actually works, not that sluggish hotel internet that barely loads your email. There’s a fitness center that’s compact but has the equipment you’d actually use, plus they keep it clean and well-maintained. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well, so when you ask for recommendations, you get real answers instead of the usual tourist trap suggestions.
Why Guests Love It
This place has figured out what couples want from a New York hotel stay — it’s intimate enough to feel romantic but connected enough to everything that you’re not spending half your time on the subway. The combination of Chelsea’s walkable streets and the hotel’s comfortable atmosphere creates this perfect base for exploring the city together. You can stroll to Chelsea Market for breakfast, spend the afternoon wandering galleries, then come back to a space that actually feels like a retreat from the city’s intensity. It’s that rare hotel that enhances your New York experience instead of just providing a place to sleep.

Great Place to Stay in NYC!
Great place to stay!
A Quaint and Quiet Place to Return to in Superb Location
This hotel is in a wonderful location for walking in many directons or seeing many areas of the city. The neighborhood has convenient shops and a grocery store. There are some rooftop bars next to the hotel.
What could be improved: The internet is slow or not working with some of my apps due to speed. Tea or water could be provided throughout
the day as an improvement idea.
I enjoyed my stay
Room, location, friendliness
What could be improved: The shower did not have a door and the dinning area downstairs needs more light.
Very pleasant
The staff were very helpful, good service, the room was nice, very clean and the bed was comfortable.
What could be improved: No facilities, for the price and standard I would expect a gym at least, but given the central location it was a good stay overall.
Nice area, nice price.
Beautiful district, great location
What could be improved: The AC in the rooms is questionable and only goes down to 68 BUT the staff fixed it quickly. The entire bathroom is also the shower.
Could do better
Location
What could be improved: AC was useless and room was very tired
A very central place to stay
Near Penn station so easy from the airport. Modern, clean. Helpful staff. Good sized room. Quiet and excellent lift.
What could be improved: WiFi didn't work in the room. Very basic breakfast with everything throw away but that's America.
Very Good
Location
What could be improved: Breakfast was very poor
It was ok
The location
What could be improved: The beds are very uncomfortable. Couldn’t check in on time.
Very Good
Simple Check-in!
Very clean!
What could be improved: No AC, but also I did not ask. I assumed turning on and setting the temperature to lower would cool down the place, it did not.
