First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Giraffe by Library Hotel Collection on Park Avenue South, you immediately notice how it stands out from the typical Manhattan hotel scene. The boutique property has this refined, almost European feel that’s refreshing in a city full of cookie-cutter chains. I mean, the name itself gives you a hint — there’s actually giraffe-inspired art throughout the building, but it’s done tastefully, not like some cheesy theme park. The four-star hotel sits right at the corner of 26th Street in NoMad, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for exploring both Midtown and the trendy neighborhoods further south.
The NoMad Advantage
You know what’s great about staying here? You’re literally in one of Manhattan’s most happening areas without the tourist chaos of Times Square. NoMad has become this perfect blend of business district during the day and foodie paradise at night. The Flatiron Building is just a few blocks south, Madison Square Park is right there for morning coffee runs, and you can walk to both the Empire State Building and Union Square in under ten minutes. Couples especially seem to love this spot — I can see why, since there are so many great restaurants and bars within walking distance, plus it feels more intimate than staying in the heart of Midtown.
Rooms That Actually Work
The rooms at Hotel Giraffe by Library Hotel Collection are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. They’re not huge (this is Manhattan, after all), but every inch is used well. The beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel marketing speak — with quality linens that make you want to sleep in. What I really appreciated was the attention to lighting; there are actually enough outlets and proper reading lights, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many upscale hotels get this wrong. The bathrooms are compact but well-appointed, and the windows offer decent views of the neighborhood’s mix of prewar and modern architecture.
Food Worth Staying In For
Here’s something unexpected — the hotel’s restaurant is actually worth eating at, which honestly isn’t always the case in New York where you’re surrounded by incredible dining options. The breakfast is solid (though not cheap, but that’s Manhattan for you), and they do a nice job with both American classics and lighter options. The rooftop bar is where things get interesting, especially during warmer months. It’s not the biggest rooftop in the city, but the views are lovely and it has this intimate vibe that makes it feel like a local secret rather than a tourist trap.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both sophisticated and welcoming. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good coffee shop around the corner or tell you which subway entrance is less crowded. There’s private parking available, which is practically unheard of in this part of Manhattan and worth its weight in gold if you’re driving in. The whole Library Hotel Collection brand has this thing about creating hotels with personality, and you can feel that here. It’s the kind of place where you’d be happy to spend time in the lobby with a book, but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore everything the city has to offer.
To book a hotel in New York during major events like Fashion Week, travelers need early planning as this vibrant city draws visitors eager to experience its dynamic energy and world-famous skyline.

Guest Reviews
OK.
The hotel is quite well positioned, it is 2 blocks from the Metro station (6). The room was very clean, quite large. The hotel staff was very cooperative.
What could be improved: Very poor breakfast.
Location is fantastic
Super friendly staff and great location
Great location, comfortable bed, affordable.
We liked the location - close to Subway stations and the lovely Madison Square Park. Our room was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was great. The staff were helpful and friendly.
What could be improved: Although we could make a cup of tea and take it up to our room, it would have been nice to have a kettle to make one in our room. When on holiday, a cup of tea in bed is always a treat I look forward to.
