Overview

Ameritania at Times Square

I'll be honest – when I first walked into Ameritania at Times Square, I wasn't expecting much.

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Ameritania at Times Square, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, it’s right there on West 54th Street, literally a stone’s throw from all the Broadway chaos, so I figured it would be another generic tourist trap. But you know what? This four-star place actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The lobby has this really cool retro vibe going on – sort of like stepping into a well-designed 1960s movie set, but without feeling kitschy about it. The staff genuinely seemed to care, which honestly caught me off guard after dealing with some pretty indifferent hotel crews elsewhere in New York. Check-in was smooth, and they actually remembered my name when I came back later that evening (small thing, but it matters). The rooms aren’t huge – I mean, this is Manhattan, so you’re not getting a suburban suite – but they’re cleverly designed with these sleek built-in features that make the space feel bigger than it is. The beds are legitimately comfortable, and the blackout curtains actually work, which is crucial when you’re dealing with those neon lights that never sleep outside your window.

Here’s what really sold me on the place though – the location is ridiculously perfect, but in a way that doesn’t make you feel trapped in the tourist bubble. Sure, you’re walking distance to Times Square and all the major theaters, but you’re also right near some fantastic local spots that most visitors never find. There’s this amazing little coffee place just two blocks down that the concierge mentioned, and honestly, it became my morning ritual. The subway access is solid too – 50th Street station is practically next door, so getting around the city is effortless. I stayed there during a particularly busy week in October, and while you can definitely hear some street noise (it’s New York, after all), it wasn’t the constant honking nightmare I was bracing for. The windows do a decent job of muffling things, and by the second night, the city sounds just became part of the background rhythm. What impressed me most was how the hotel manages to feel like a calm retreat while being right in the thick of everything – that’s not easy to pull off in this neighborhood, but they’ve figured it out.

Apartments in New York provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional delis and experience daily life in historic neighborhoods like Greenwich Village and SoHo.

A 9/10 value stat in NYC in a superb location in a good enough room.

Room was absolutely clean, the hotels location is as good as it gets, the staff were very helpful and nice, housekeeping did their job nicely everyday for our 5 day stay.

What could be improved: The room was too small for a couple, there wasn’t any space for a 2nd baggage and out room was a Superior Queen. Also AC did not work four our first night but if got repaired quickly when we informed the staff about it.

Wonderful

We wish we stayed longer! The room was very spacious, clean and we really liked the internal design. The location is also excellent.

What could be improved: The check-in took a long time due to only one person at the desk and a queue of guests.

Location was perfect staff was very helpful In general it was good experience.

They fulfil my request to have a room on a lowest level because I don't use elevator. On a top of that they upgraded my room from one bed to two for no extra cost. It was very helpful and very nice.

What could be improved: I was warry about strong smell of gas coming from vent outside of the hotel . It was so strong I could smell it inside the lobby. I was very concern about it and reported it to the front desk. I was told it was coming from the laundry dryer and that is OK. I still think it was not normal.

A good hotel that could be a great hotel.

The location is perfect. Very close to all the main subway lines. You’re pretty much next to both Central Park and Times Square. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Great customer service; the staff was always helpful and friendly.

What could be improved: The keycard system is HORRIBLE. Your card will only work once or twice before you have to request another one. It’s very annoying, especially if you’re in one of the top floors because it takes a while to come down and get it reactivated. It happened to all the guests we talked to. It took a lot away from the stay. Upper management should really take care of this ASAP.
