First Impressions
Walking into Hotel 57 on East 57th Street, you immediately get that classic New York boutique hotel vibe — it’s polished without being stuffy, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. This four-star property sits right in the thick of Midtown East, which means you’re literally steps away from some of the city’s best shopping and dining. I mean, when couples are rating the location 9.3 out of 10, you know there’s something special about where this place sits.
The Midtown East Advantage
What I love about this spot is how it puts you right in the center of everything without the Times Square chaos. You’re a quick walk to Central Park, the Museum of Modern Art is practically around the corner, and Fifth Avenue shopping is right there when you need some retail therapy. The subway access is actually fantastic too — you’ve got multiple lines within a few blocks, so getting anywhere in the city is pretty straightforward. Plus, there’s something nice about staying in a neighborhood where you see actual New Yorkers going about their day, not just tourists taking selfies.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are what you’d expect from a solid four-star in Manhattan — they’re not huge (this is New York, after all), but they’re smartly designed and comfortable. Each room feels modern and clean, with decent amenities and surprisingly good soundproofing considering you’re on a busy Midtown street. The beds are actually quite comfortable, and I appreciated the attention to details like good lighting for reading and enough outlets for all your devices. You know what really impressed me? The bathrooms are well-appointed without trying too hard to be fancy.
Dining and Amenities
While Hotel 57 keeps things relatively streamlined on the amenities front, what they do offer works well. The on-site restaurant serves solid American fare — nothing groundbreaking, but reliable and convenient when you don’t feel like venturing out. The staff is genuinely helpful with recommendations too, which matters when you’re trying to navigate dinner reservations in this part of town. There’s also decent business facilities if you’re mixing work with pleasure, and the fitness center covers the basics well enough.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, it comes down to location and value in a city where both can be hard to find. That 9.2 location score isn’t just marketing fluff — you really can walk to so many places from here, and when you factor in what you’d spend on transportation staying somewhere more remote, the math starts making sense. The hotel doesn’t try to be the flashiest option in the city, but it delivers on the fundamentals: clean, comfortable accommodations in an excellent neighborhood with staff who actually seem to care about your experience. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about being able to stroll through this part of Manhattan in the evening, maybe grab drinks at one of the nearby rooftop bars, and then just walk back to your hotel without dealing with complicated subway transfers or expensive cab rides.

Very Good
Great location
What could be improved: No fridge in room. Room super small
Good
Beds are comfortable and the room size is large. Housekeeping is excellent and the room is made up each day perfectly.
What could be improved: It needs updating in terms of facilities and decor. There was room for a comfortable chair and even a small couch, but it was just an empty expanse of floor space. It needs painting on walls, and some decorating to provide warmth. The faucets in the sink and shower are worn out.
New York first timer
Location was central to public transport and restsurants. Comfortable and clean. Lovely helpful staff.
Average
The location and how friendly the person that collected my logged was.
What could be improved: I didn’t like that the hotel hold a deposit for every night. If I knew this is the hotel practice I would’ve selected this hotel.
The cleaning room team walked me up to ask if I needed the room to be clean, when I had a sign in the door to do not disturb. The day that I was leaving again in the morning I was ask for the cleaning crew, if I was already leaving. I understand they want to get their job done as soon as possible, but as a guest in the hotel you do not want to be pressured .
Great. Would definitely stay there again
Loved the location. Clean.
What could be improved: Didn’t have a small fridge.
Very Good
Was clean and quiet from outside.
What could be improved: In TV wasn’t signal and AC works too loud.
Lovely hotel, great location.
Great location nice and close to central park, and a short walk to TS and Bryant park area.
What could be improved: The balcony had no furniture on it so we couldn't make use of it, and the room was a little tatty in places.
Good room and in a good location. Bit overpriced but i guess thats the NY prices
Nice staff, good location, comfortable bed, good AC
What could be improved: Room bit outdated, small fridge would be nice and also easier to use coffee machine would be great. Hand wash next to the sink would be better than the lotion. Each time i wanted to wash my hands i had to go inside the shower to reach for the body wash liquid. Some hook to hang the towel next to the sink would be great too.
It was a very pleasant experience
Location
What could be improved: Pillows
Great, will stay here again.
Staff is very friendly, lobby and room was very clean. I would absolutely stay here again.
What could be improved: I wish they had better coffee makers and a microwave and mini fridge in the rooms.
