The Chemists Club Hotel
Look, I'll be honest – when I first walked into The Chemists Club Hotel, I wasn't expecting much from what looked like just another Midtown building on 41st Street.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Chemists Club Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another Midtown building on 41st Street. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s housed in what used to be an actual chemists’ club (hence the name), and they’ve kept all these gorgeous original details that make you feel like you’re stepping into some sort of elegant speakeasy from the 1920s. The lobby has these dark wood panels and vintage scientific instruments scattered around – not in a cheesy theme park way, but more like someone’s brilliant grandfather was a mad scientist with impeccable taste.
What really won me over about this four-star spot is how it manages to feel both historic and completely modern at the same time. The rooms are honestly better than I expected – they’ve got this rich, sophisticated vibe with deep colors and brass fixtures, but everything actually works perfectly. The beds are ridiculously comfortable (I’m talking sink-right-in good), and the bathrooms have these amazing rain showers that I may have stayed in a bit too long. You know what’s nice? The windows are thick enough that you can barely hear the street noise, which in New York is basically a miracle. I stayed on the seventh floor and could actually sleep past 7 AM without garbage trucks waking me up.
The location is sort of perfect if you ask me – you’re right in Murray Hill, so you can walk to Grand Central in about five minutes, but you’re not dealing with the absolute chaos of Times Square tourists. There’s a really solid coffee shop called Birch literally around the corner, and if you head down to 40th Street, you’ll find some great little restaurants that aren’t completely overpriced tourist traps. The hotel staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places just hand you a generic map. They pointed me toward this amazing ramen spot on 39th that I never would have found otherwise. I mean, parking is still New York parking (expensive and annoying), but the front desk folks were helpful about directing me to the least terrible garage nearby. It’s one of those places where the service feels genuine rather than scripted – they remember your name after day one and actually seem to care whether you’re having a good time.

Would recommend as position and rooms are great.
Location fantastic. Room larger than usual in NYC. Staff very helpful especially Lance.
Allowed early check in as room was ready.
Steamer rather than iron.
What could be improved: There were 4 of us but only 2 bottles of water each day. Snacks not topped up.
Sockets not near mirror for drying hair.
Little unpacking space.
Had a great stay at the chemists club and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Perfect location, cozy and clean.
The location was perfect, close to the UN and to main attractions. The staff were all kind and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean.
Wonderful stay - and I plan to return
Our room was clean, modern, quiet. That’s difficult to say in Manhattan when you’re on a busy street.
What could be improved: Lots of construction around, but you can can’t control that. It’s all over the city.
Lovely accommodation for a visit to NYC
Well located to Grand Central, Bryant Park and the theater district. Extremely comfortable and elegant room. Loved having water and snacks included

Nicely appointed. Hotel is worthy of return trips. Nadiyah @ the front is knowledgeable and proficient @ her job. Such high praises deserved for a gracious woman. Shout out to Benjamin’s Steak house adjacent to the hotel is 5 stars plus!
What could be improved: Water pressure on 3rd floor (#302) was lacking.
