DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York City – Chelsea

Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first walked into DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York City – Chelsea, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, it’s a four-star chain hotel in Manhattan, so I figured it would be decent but pretty standard. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The location is honestly fantastic if you want to feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood instead of tourist central. You’re right in Chelsea, which means you can walk to the High Line in about ten minutes (and trust me, going early morning before the crowds is amazing), plus you’ve got all these great little restaurants and coffee shops within a few blocks. I stayed there during a particularly busy week in New York, and while Times Square was absolutely chaotic, this area felt manageable – still buzzy and exciting, but not overwhelming. The hotel sits on West 29th Street, and I actually loved how quiet it was at night despite being in the middle of everything. Well, quiet for Manhattan standards anyway.
What really got me was the attention to detail throughout the place. The lobby has this warm, welcoming vibe that doesn’t feel too corporate, and the staff – honestly, they seemed to genuinely care about making your stay good. I had this issue with my key card not working properly, and instead of just reprogramming it and sending me away, the front desk person actually walked me up to test it. Small thing, but it mattered. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent space for New York City (which, let’s face it, isn’t saying much, but still). The bathrooms were actually quite nice, better than I expected, with good water pressure and those little touches that make you feel pampered. I mean, you’re not going to get a massive suite or anything, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully designed.
Here’s something I really appreciated – the hotel attracts a good mix of business travelers and tourists, so there’s this nice energy without feeling like you’re staying in a zoo. I grabbed coffee in the lobby a few mornings, and it was perfect for people-watching while planning my day. The neighborhood itself is brilliant for exploring – you can walk to Madison Square Garden, the Flatiron Building, and tons of great shopping. Plus, you’ve got multiple subway lines nearby, so getting around the city is actually pretty easy. Parking is typical Manhattan expensive if you’re driving, but honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel connected to the real rhythm of the city rather than being stuck in the tourist bubble.

Overall 4 of 5! Thanks
All services are great!
What could be improved: The elevator sometimes under maintenance
Worth repeating!
The location is very good. The staff were all cheerful and helpful.
What could be improved: Nothing displeased me
Good
Friendly staff. Thanks to a bellboy who carried my baggage from 9th floor by stairs when the elevator broke down.
A really nice place to stay as your get back shower and sleep spot while on a trip.
Location was perfect, close to plenty of attractions and easy access to the subway as well so it was easy to get around the city as needed. The room was comfortable and the beds were nice and soft.
What could be improved: The room was comfortable but could have been a bit better cooled. The unit in the room was constantly running but it just made the room a comfortable warm where some coolness would be nice after walking around in August sun. The fridge also didn’t really cool the drinks too much as well. With only two elevators you often had to wait a bit for getting down since a lot of times it just kept going up and down packed with people prompting is to wait until an empty trip came around.
Great location and comfy bed. Would recommend.
Stayed twice in 2 weeks. Very comfy bed. Was upgraded to a room with a view on our second stay. Staff very friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Both TVs needs to be fixed in different rooms but were fixed very quickly.
Would recviennd this hotel for a few days stay. All the places to see are in easy walking distance - apart from lower ma
Location and staff excellent.
What could be improved: A bit tight for space in the upper floor spaces and elevator. Room make up each day was ok, sometimes not complete re replacing coffee and milk etc but otherwise excellent.
