Candlewood Suites NYC -Times Square by IHG

I'll be honest, when I first walked into Candlewood Suites NYC -Times Square by IHG, I wasn't expecting much from a three-star extended-stay place in Hell's Kitchen.

I’ll be honest, when I first walked into Candlewood Suites NYC -Times Square by IHG, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star extended-stay place in Hell’s Kitchen. But you know what? This place actually gets it right in ways that matter when you’re dealing with the chaos of New York.

The location on West 39th is honestly pretty perfect – you’re close enough to Times Square that you can walk there in about five minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant tourist madness right outside your window. I mean, you’ll still hear some street noise (it’s New York, after all), but it’s nothing like being right in the thick of it. The Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood has really grown on me over the years – there are some fantastic little restaurants tucked away on the side streets, and you’re actually walking distance to Port Authority if you need to catch a bus or train out of the city.

What really impressed me about this place is how they’ve set up the suites for people who might be staying longer than a typical hotel visit. Every room comes with a full kitchen – and I’m talking about a real kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, and dishwasher, not those tiny hotel kitchenettes that are basically useless. The grocery store downstairs makes it super convenient to stock up, which honestly saves you a fortune compared to eating out for every meal in Manhattan. The beds are comfortable (I’m pretty picky about this), and there’s actually enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The free laundry facilities on each floor are clutch too – I’ve stayed at much fancier places that charge ridiculous amounts for laundry.

The staff here seems to actually care, which isn’t always a given in New York hotels. Check-in was smooth, and when I had a question about the neighborhood, the front desk person gave me genuinely helpful recommendations instead of just pointing me toward the touristy spots. The fitness center is small but functional, and the 24-hour business center came in handy when I needed to print some documents late at night. One thing to keep in mind – this isn’t a fancy place with a lot of bells and whistles. There’s no room service or concierge, but honestly, you don’t really need that stuff when you’re this close to everything anyway. The value here is in getting a clean, comfortable, well-equipped space in a solid location without paying the premium you’d shell out for a traditional Midtown hotel.

Sleeping in the clouds

I liked having a microwave. I could heat up milk to make a cafe au lait. The pillows were very comfortable. The lemon drink (free) on the ground floor was very much appreciated. Staff were friendly and helpful.

What could be improved: The bed was a little hard. The lift was slow. I wish the shop on the ground floor sold milk.

Great location & comfortable room.

Very clean, comfortable & great to have kitchenette. Location is amazing, close to many good restaurants, delis & groceries.

There is a Citibike station right around the corner and only a .15 walk from Penn.

Ideal location for exploring. Staff friendly.

Great location for exploring NYC. Subway 2 minutes walk. Times Square 5 mins walk. Nice restaurants if you turn right too. Rooms ideal - fridge, microwave etc good. Bed comfortable. Good price too. Would recommend.

What could be improved: Nothing.

100% recommended

Location is just near the Times Square and close to the subway and yet very quiet. The kitchen was well equipped and the staff were amazing, helped with everything I needed. Spacious room, I even stayed working from it a few days. That good I extended my stay for five more days. House keeping amazing!

What could be improved: At least once a day the key wouldn’t work so I had to go down to the front desk so they would restart it. But honestly, it wasn’t that a big of a deal.

Very Good

It was clean, the staff was nice and helpful and the location is perfect. In NYC for its price it really worth it!!

What could be improved: The hotel is really outdated, needs serious refurbishment. The TV channels are really bad, only a few of them is working.

The best find if your looking for time square

The front desk staff was excellent but usually one person handling too many tasks at the same time. Hire more people.

What could be improved: I didn’t enjoy the bums and pot smoke in front of the hotel. Gym needs upgrade and space. There should be a bathroom on first floor
