Cambria Hotel New York – Chelsea
I'll be honest – when I first walked into Cambria Hotel New York - Chelsea, I wasn't expecting much from another four-star chain property.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Cambria Hotel New York – Chelsea, I wasn’t expecting much from another four-star chain property. But this place actually surprised me in all the right ways. The lobby hits you with this modern industrial vibe that somehow feels warm instead of cold, which is harder to pull off than you’d think in New York. There’s exposed brick mixed with sleek furniture, and they’ve got this coffee bar setup that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.
The location on West 28th Street is honestly pretty smart – you’re right in the thick of Chelsea without being on one of those crazy busy avenues where you can’t sleep at night. I mean, you’re still in Manhattan so there’s street noise, but it’s manageable. What I really liked was how walkable everything felt from here. The High Line is maybe a ten-minute walk west, and if you’re into the whole Chelsea Market scene, that’s super close too. Penn Station is right there when you need to catch a train, which saved me from those expensive Uber rides to the airport. Actually, the subway connections are solid – the 28th Street station on the N/R/W lines is practically around the corner.
The rooms themselves feel bigger than most NYC hotel rooms, though that’s probably not saying much if you’ve stayed in the city before. But seriously, they’ve made good use of the space with built-in storage and a desk area that you can actually work at. The bathrooms are surprisingly nice – good water pressure, which you know can be hit or miss in older buildings. One thing that caught my attention was how quiet it got at night, especially considering you’re in Chelsea. The windows must be pretty decent quality because I barely heard the street noise once I closed them. The beds are comfortable enough, though I’m not one of those people who obsesses over thread counts or whatever. What I did appreciate was the USB ports built into everything – nightstands, desk area – because hunting for outlets in hotel rooms is always annoying. The whole tech setup felt thoughtful rather than gimmicky, if that makes sense. Housekeeping was consistent during my stay, and the front desk staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood when I asked for restaurant recommendations, which isn’t always the case at chain hotels.
Apartments in New York provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional delis and experience daily life in historic neighborhoods like Greenwich Village and SoHo.

Good location very accommodating
Location
Excellent
Great location. Very clean. Great size. Staff were very friendly. They hold your bags for you prior to check in and after checking out so you can enjoy the city. Easy walk to Penn station. Nice sitting area out front and up on the rooftop.
What could be improved: Decided to stay another night for my group of 3 and wanted to share a king room and was told I had to book 2 rooms. One of the king rooms had a couch which would have been sufficient. Would have rather paid for an extra guest instead of a whole room that didn't get used because I didn't want to leave my daughter's alone.
Wonderful
Staff were helpful, efficient & warm. When I needed an engineer for coffee maker, he arrived in minutes. It was promptly replaced when the missing lid with instructions couldn't be replaced.
Convenient to subway, buses, Penn Sta & Highline.24/7 staff. Quiet.
What could be improved: The street was dark & a little deserted at night, despite other hotels & residents, but I never saw anything dangerous.
Good location, nice and comfortable rooms, very friendly staff
Location, nice rooms, friendly staff
Great stay
Great location - subway accessible & multiple coffeeshops and grocery stores available. Whole Foods market is around 7 min walk. Close to Path train and Penn station which makes really convenient.
Bed and pillows are comfortable.
Multiple lighting options for dimmed or strong light.
Fridge and microwave are available in the room.
Sofa in the room is a good addition.
Gym is decent.
Coffee for free available in the lobby during breakfast hours.
Can store luggage before and after checking in/out.
AC worked well.
Nice roof terrace with a great view.
My room was ready a few hours earlier than the time of check in with no additional cost.
What could be improved: Very poor soundproofing! Noise comes from the street and from other rooms. You can hear toilet flushing in other rooms.
Requested for late check out (4:30pm) and they said that I’d need to pay for an additional night. The rate was high, so it wasn’t convenient and I extended my stay at another hotel that was more flexible.
It is a boutique-ish downtown hotel, offering great value.
The location was very convenient. There were many fun shops and restaurants near by, close to subways and the room was clean.
What could be improved: The coffee maker didn’t work. The ice maker in the hallway was very loud. Price was right.
