First Impressions
Walking into Cambria Hotel New York – Chelsea, you immediately notice how they’ve managed to create something that feels both polished and approachable. The lobby has this modern, clean aesthetic without being cold — there’s actually warmth to the space that makes you feel like you’re in the right place. It’s one of those four-star properties that gets the balance right between upscale touches and genuine comfort. You know what really struck me? The staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re dealing with New York hotel prices.
Location & Neighborhood
The Chelsea location is absolutely stellar — I mean, you’re right in the thick of things on West 28th Street. You can walk to Madison Square Garden in about ten minutes, the High Line is practically around the corner, and you’ve got incredible restaurant options in every direction. What I love about this spot is that it’s busy enough to feel like you’re really in Manhattan, but it’s not Times Square chaos. The subway access is solid too — you’ve got multiple lines within easy walking distance, which makes getting around the city actually pleasant instead of stressful.
The Room Experience
Here’s where Cambria Hotel New York – Chelsea really delivers — the beds are genuinely fantastic. I’m usually pretty skeptical when hotels tout their bedding, but these are the kind of beds where you actually sleep well despite being in the middle of one of the world’s busiest cities. The rooms themselves are smartly designed with plenty of USB ports (thank goodness) and good lighting for actually getting things done. The bathrooms are modern and well-appointed, though not huge — but honestly, in Manhattan, you’re paying for location and comfort, not sprawling square footage.
Amenities & Atmosphere
The hotel has this relaxed, contemporary vibe that works well for both business travelers and couples exploring the city. There’s a fitness center that’s actually usable — not just a token room with one broken treadmill — and the common areas are designed for people who want to hang out or get some work done. The whole place feels thoughtfully put together rather than just thrown together to fill a space. I particularly appreciated how quiet it stays despite being in such a central location; the soundproofing is clearly something they invested in.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it nails the fundamentals while adding those little extras that make a stay memorable. Couples especially seem to gravitate toward this hotel, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about being in Chelsea with easy access to great dining and nightlife, but then coming back to a genuinely comfortable, well-run hotel. The combination of that prime location, those comfortable beds, and staff who actually seem to care creates the kind of experience that makes you want to book the same place next time you’re in the city. It’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in New York, but it might just be one of the most satisfying.
Apartments in New York provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional delis and experience daily life in historic neighborhoods like Greenwich Village and SoHo.

Good location very accommodating
Location
Excellent
Great location. Very clean. Great size. Staff were very friendly. They hold your bags for you prior to check in and after checking out so you can enjoy the city. Easy walk to Penn station. Nice sitting area out front and up on the rooftop.
What could be improved: Decided to stay another night for my group of 3 and wanted to share a king room and was told I had to book 2 rooms. One of the king rooms had a couch which would have been sufficient. Would have rather paid for an extra guest instead of a whole room that didn't get used because I didn't want to leave my daughter's alone.
Wonderful
Staff were helpful, efficient & warm. When I needed an engineer for coffee maker, he arrived in minutes. It was promptly replaced when the missing lid with instructions couldn't be replaced.
Convenient to subway, buses, Penn Sta & Highline.24/7 staff. Quiet.
What could be improved: The street was dark & a little deserted at night, despite other hotels & residents, but I never saw anything dangerous.
Good location, nice and comfortable rooms, very friendly staff
Location, nice rooms, friendly staff
Great stay
Great location - subway accessible & multiple coffeeshops and grocery stores available. Whole Foods market is around 7 min walk. Close to Path train and Penn station which makes really convenient.
Bed and pillows are comfortable.
Multiple lighting options for dimmed or strong light.
Fridge and microwave are available in the room.
Sofa in the room is a good addition.
Gym is decent.
Coffee for free available in the lobby during breakfast hours.
Can store luggage before and after checking in/out.
AC worked well.
Nice roof terrace with a great view.
My room was ready a few hours earlier than the time of check in with no additional cost.
What could be improved: Very poor soundproofing! Noise comes from the street and from other rooms. You can hear toilet flushing in other rooms.
Requested for late check out (4:30pm) and they said that I’d need to pay for an additional night. The rate was high, so it wasn’t convenient and I extended my stay at another hotel that was more flexible.
It is a boutique-ish downtown hotel, offering great value.
The location was very convenient. There were many fun shops and restaurants near by, close to subways and the room was clean.
What could be improved: The coffee maker didn’t work. The ice maker in the hallway was very loud. Price was right.
