First Impressions
Walking into Arlo Midtown, you immediately notice how they’ve managed to make a relatively compact space feel surprisingly open and welcoming. The lobby has this modern, almost industrial-chic vibe that works perfectly for the Hell’s Kitchen location — it’s polished without being stuffy. What struck me most was how the staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood; when I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk person didn’t just hand me a generic list but actually asked what I was in the mood for.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is probably the hotel’s biggest selling point, and I can see why couples rate it so highly. You’re right in the thick of Hell’s Kitchen, which means you’re walking distance to Times Square (about 5 minutes) but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant chaos. The Theater District is practically on your doorstep — I mean, you can grab dinner at one of the fantastic local spots and still make an 8 PM curtain without breaking a sweat. Plus, you’ve got multiple subway lines within a few blocks, so getting anywhere in the city is actually pretty straightforward.
The Room Experience
The rooms at this four-star property are what I’d call “efficiently designed” — they’re not huge, but every inch is thoughtfully used. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern with good water pressure, which you can’t always count on in New York hotels. What I appreciated most was the soundproofing; despite being on a busy Midtown street, I slept well without earplugs. The windows are large enough that you get decent natural light, though don’t expect sweeping city views unless you’re on a higher floor.
Amenities & Atmosphere
The rooftop situation here is pretty solid — there’s a bar with decent cocktails and you can actually see some skyline, which is nice for evening drinks. The fitness center is small but has the basics covered if you need to squeeze in a workout. I spent some time in the lobby area during the day, and it has this energetic but not overwhelming vibe — you know, the kind of place where you can work on your laptop or just people-watch. The whole property has this upscale boutique feel that manages to be stylish without trying too hard.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Arlo Midtown apart is how it nails the balance between being in the center of everything while still feeling like a retreat from the city’s intensity. You’re close enough to walk to most major attractions, but the hotel itself provides a calm base to return to. The staff clearly knows their stuff about the neighborhood — they’ll steer you toward the good local restaurants that tourists often miss. For the price point and location, it delivers exactly what most travelers want: a comfortable, well-designed place to sleep in one of the best parts of Manhattan, without any unnecessary frills that just drive up the cost.
To book hotel in New York during the iconic Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration, visitors should make reservations well in advance as this global metropolis attracts millions of tourists from around the world.

Excellent stay at Arllo Midtown
The location was excellent.the staff were very friendly. The beds were super comfy, and the hotel has a lovely ambience.
What could be improved: The shower room could have been cleaner and you had to position the shower head so as not to flood the room since the screen was not water tight.
Comfortable and great location!
Very convenient location, comfortable bed, everything looked nice and clean. I would probably consider staying here again next time I need a hotel in this area.
What could be improved: Room was small and it was a bit pricy, but that is what you get in NYC.
