Arlo Midtown
I'll be honest, when I first walked into Arlo Midtown, I wasn't expecting much – the entrance is pretty modest for a four-star place.
I’ll be honest, when I first walked into Arlo Midtown, I wasn’t expecting much – the entrance is pretty modest for a four-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in understated packages. This place sits right in Hell’s Kitchen on 38th Street, and I mean *right* in the thick of things. You’re basically a five-minute walk from Times Square if that’s your thing (though honestly, most New Yorkers would tell you to skip it), but more importantly, you’re surrounded by some genuinely great food spots that tourists haven’t completely discovered yet.
The rooms are compact – and I’m being kind here – but they’re designed so smartly that you don’t feel cramped. Actually, the whole vibe reminds me of those sleek Japanese pod hotels, except with actual space to breathe. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and here’s something I appreciated: the windows actually open, which is rarer than you’d think in New York hotels. Sure, you’ll hear some street noise, but it’s that classic city hum that either bothers you or becomes your white noise machine. The shower situation is interesting too – they’ve got this rain shower setup that works better than expected, though tall people might have issues (I’m 5’8″ and it was fine for me). What really sold me on this place was the rooftop situation. They’ve got this outdoor terrace that gives you solid Manhattan views without the crazy markup you’d pay elsewhere. I spent way too much time up there with coffee in the morning, watching the city wake up. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well too – the front desk guy pointed me toward this tiny Vietnamese spot around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise.
Look, Arlo Midtown isn’t trying to be the Plaza, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s got that boutique hotel feel without the pretentious attitude, and the location means you can walk to Penn Station in ten minutes or catch a show in the Theater District without dealing with subway transfers. The price point makes sense for what you get, especially considering you’re staying in Manhattan and not getting nickel-and-dimed for every little thing. If you’re the type who needs a massive bathroom and room service until 3 AM, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, well-designed base camp for exploring the city with people who actually care about your experience? Yeah, I’d definitely stay here again.
To book hotel in New York during the iconic Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration, visitors should make reservations well in advance as this global metropolis attracts millions of tourists from around the world.

Excellent stay at Arllo Midtown
The location was excellent.the staff were very friendly. The beds were super comfy, and the hotel has a lovely ambience.
What could be improved: The shower room could have been cleaner and you had to position the shower head so as not to flood the room since the screen was not water tight.
Comfortable and great location!
Very convenient location, comfortable bed, everything looked nice and clean. I would probably consider staying here again next time I need a hotel in this area.
What could be improved: Room was small and it was a bit pricy, but that is what you get in NYC.
